CCI is looking for a dirt bike for my son

It really depends on what you're looking for and the ability of your son. Personally I would start looking in the classified ads in the paper for a used one, probably for something around 50cc's, I'm not sure how big your son is though adjust up or down to suit his size. I've never tried online so I couldn't say if that was a deal or not. I would definately steer clear of E-Ton. They're dirt cheap but you get what you pay for. At one of my old jobs the owner sold dirtbikes and E-Ton was one brand. The mechanic hated them said they were shit bikes and could spend hours bitching about how awful they were.

I recommend at least an XR 80. Sounds like your son will grow out of the 50 in less than 2 years.

When I was a kid I started with an XL70 and then went to a CR80. The CR was high maintenance with spark plugs and gas mixing but the higher power machines kick ass and why not raise the bar for your son?

Just my .02.

No doubt on the CR...I had a Suzuki equivalent...RM 80. Great times on that thing.

A 50cc is too small for his age. My son is 4 and he rides a PW 50 with no problems.

These guys are right...stay clear of 2 strokes. They are very high maintenance (mixing gas, cleaning air filters, etc...) and are hard for a new rider b/c they have power bands that kick in suddenly instead of a smooth constant power.

Take your boy to the shop and set him on some 4 strokes to see what fits him. Also, check out Yamaha's TTR line...they are very easy to ride.

Here is the TT R90...http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/239/0/home.aspx
