i seriously doubt that drew tate will be running around with his arms up like an airplane, can you imagine watching that as a lineman or linebacker? i would not want to be iowa, ohio state will remember that game and will come out and punch them in the mouth from the 1st play till the last.

Where's their D-Line? Who cares. Ferentz will find one. He always does.

In the meantime, where is scUM's entire defense? Probably still looking at the back of Troy Smith and Drew Stanton's jerseys.

...and Purdue, the other "contender"... They have the D-Line, but where's the rest of their team?

Any of these teams could realistically be there at the end of the year (the Citrus Bowl, that is ) Out of these three I think that Iowa has the best shot at pulling off a 7-1 or 6-2 conference record.

I was thinking more of Vince Young...But hey, those two work as well, lol :)

I hope that they arent prediction Iowa to beat both OSU and Michigan this year, because if memory serves me right, that ahs never happend and Im pretty confident this year will be the first for it.

Wisky + BG... I could see it, but i'd call it a 1-2 point loss, at worst.
Iowa SHOULD annhilate Ball St.
scUM + NIU... well, NIU's played some solid ball lately... don't know how they are this year.
Minny should put up more points on Tulsa...
MSU has the kind of offense that should make the Flashes D cry. Expect a LOT of points, from both teams.
I think the zookers take RU... don't ask me why.

As for us? I'm thinking 19 - 14 is not unreasonable. We have the talent to do some awful things to Miami(OH), but I think Tress will play the cards close to the sweatervest. If we get a lead... they'll sit on it (read: work on the ground game) and count on the D to keep us out of hot water.

The Iowa Insiders board is reporting that Antwan Allen has been convicted by a jury of assault. If that is true thats a huge hit for their defense. They just lost their shut down corner. I'm not a lawyer but my understanding is that sentencing has a minimum of a year in jail and a hefty fine.

wow that is huge, with an inexperienced d-line you need two good corners to stick with their wide recievers. he was 4 INTs away from tying the school record, this is a huge loss for the hawkeyes, he was a top 4 big 10 corner.

I read that they expect him to be back for OSU. I guess the judge can/will(if he wants to get re-elected) downgrade the sentence so he may be back for the showdown in Columbus. He will still have less prep time and have not played a game. They have had a couple back-up DL player get into trouble as well. Iowa IMO is very overated. We will see.

I just dont get why some people are saying that purdue is a possible 1 loss team. They lost Orton, Stubblefield and that one DB who was sweet cant remember his name. They will find ways to lose to teams like minny and northwestern. Purdue will lose 4 games

i dont know about that, they return all 11 starters from a pretty good defense. i think they will lose 2 games, only because of the questions on the offensive side of the ball. in my opinion there defense is really underrated.

Purdue is the anti-Ohio State. Check this out:
Code:
2001
October 13	at No. 12 Michigan L 24-10
November 3	No. 18 Illinois L 38-13
November 10	at Ohio State L 35-9
November 24	at Indiana L 13-7
December 1	Notre Dame L 24-18
December 31	vs Washington State L 33-27

2002
September 7	at No. 12 Notre Dame L 24-17
September 21	Wake Forest L 24-21
October 5	at No. 3 Iowa L 31-28
October 12	at Illinois L 38-31
October 19	No. 11 Michigan L 23-21
November 9	No. 2 Ohio State L 10-6

2003
September 6	Bowling Green L 27-26
October 25	at No. 4 Michigan L 31-3
November 15	at No. 6 Ohio State L 16-13
January 1	vs No. 11 Georgia L 34-27

2004
October 16	No. 12 Wisconsin L 20-17
October 23	No. 11 Michigan L 16-14
October 30	at Northwestern L 13-10
November 6	at No. 20 Iowa L 23-21
December 31	vs No. 20 Arizona State L 27-23
Of Purdue's 21 losses since 2001, 17 were by 7 points or fewer, with 9 of those being determined by a FG.

Nobody with this track record will compete for a national championship, let alone win one.
