CB Brandon Underwood (official thread)

Rigorous education awaits rookie cornerback Underwood
Rookie has missed most offseason work because of league rule
BY TOM PELISSERO [email protected]
June 21, 2009

Brandon Underwood spent most of the past month at his downtown Cincinnati apartment, only 500 miles from Green Bay but worlds away from the rest of the Packers? rookies.

He didn?t have a playbook. Didn?t have DVDs of practice. Didn?t have any college exams to take, either.

All Underwood had were the gym in his building and his running shoes, which he wore out on daily jogs around the city and into northern Kentucky.

Barred by NFL rule from being at Lambeau Field because his school remained in session ? even though Underwood wasn?t enrolled in any classes at the University of Cincinnati ? the Packers? sixth-round draft pick worked out on his own, knowing well he was falling behind his new teammates.

Underwood was restless.

?Oh, definitely,? said the cornerback, who joined the Packers for the final three days of organized team activities last week.

?The one thing that really crossed my mind was, when I first came up here and I saw how much bigger the playbook was, I said, ?Man, I know if I had been here since forever ago, this would be almost like second nature to me, just like it is for everybody else.??

Brandon (#33) just broke up the game winning 2-point conversion pass by the Cards. He sealed the win for GB.

edit: Underwood also went on to make a key pass break up on Arizona's final drive. Kid looks like he will be just fine in the pro's.

Good job Brandon.

Good job Brandon.

And to be fair, Leinart and Sean Morey of all people picked on him, Brandon responded by going helmet-to-helmet and drawing a flag, and he ate a Beanie stiffarm.

Do you have to pay a 15k fine if you don't make the team.

Rookie cornerback catches a break
Underwood gets chance to rebound
By Tom Silverstein of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Sept. 2, 2009

Green Bay ? Opportunities like the one Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Brandon Underwood blew in practice this week come along only so often, which is why the sixth-round draft pick is hoping to get another one Thursday night.

With the offense threatening during a 2-minute drill, Underwood made a terrific break on a ball thrown to the sideline and before the receiver had a chance to react, he stepped in front and was headed to the end zone for a touchdown.

The only problem was he dropped the ball. It was the first of two drops that tainted an otherwise excellent practice for the up-and-coming rookie.

"The first ball, I was really disappointed," Underwood said "It was a 2-minute situation and in those situations it's critical we get off the field. Every opportunity has to be capitalized on. For me, not catching that ball, it means I have to catch more balls and put myself in more situations where it becomes second nature."

Luckily for Underwood, he won't have to wait long for another opportunity. He is scheduled to start at cornerback against the Tennessee Titans because starters Al Harris and Charles Woodson are being given the night off.

Underwood has assumed the No. 4 cornerback position, in part because Will Blackmon (thigh) and Pat Lee (back) have been sidelined with injuries. Assuming Underwood doesn't do anything Thursday to ruin his shot at making the 53-man roster, there's a good chance he'll open the season as No. 4, behind No. 3 Tramon Williams.

"I've just been pleased by his whole body of work from Day One to where he is now, and I'm very excited to see what he's going to do Thursday night," cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt said of Underwood. "It's going to be a big night for him. He'll be playing against their (No.) 1s and playing a very good football team."

Underwood was a bit of a project pick for general manager Ted Thompson. He was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, but he flunked out of Ohio State, spent a year working and then walked on at the University of Cincinnati.

He ended up playing safety for the Bearcats for one season, but the Packers saw him as a cornerback and were excited about the 6-foot-1, 191-pounder's long arms and frame. They envisioned him as a sinewy strong defender a la Harris.

Report: Brandon Underwood could be charged with solitication of prostitution | ProFootballTalk.com

As expected, Packers cornerback Brandon Underwood won't be charged with sexual assault.
As not previously contemplated, Underwood could be charged with solicitation of prostitution.

The latest report comes from Bill Michaels WTMJ in Milwaukee.

According to Michaels, Underwood met the two women who would later claim sexual assault at a "Gentleman's Club" named Chubby's. He allegedly solicited one or both to return to the condo where he and other members of the team were staying.

And so while an "encounter" between Underwood and one of the women was taking place, the other woman tried to rob him.

When the theft was discovered, the women were thrown out -- and then they cried rape.

As previously reported, the women initially said they were assaulted by multiple players while being held down by other players. Then, they changed their story, claiming that Underwood assaulted them.

F'ing whores.

Brandon Underwood still hasn't been officially exonerated of sexual assault
Posted by Mike Florio on July 9, 2010

Last month, Packers cornerback Brandon Underwood found himself on the wrong side of sexual assault allegations. Within days, it became apparent that Underwood ultimately would not be charged, due to factors such as: (1) the women who made the claim had changed their story dramatically; (2) Underwood actually paid them, possibly to sand his floor, paint his fence, or wax his car.

Still, Underwood has yet to be cleared, according to Paul Srubas of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The article contains no fresh insight from the authorities, who generally have clammed up. And it fails to point out the reality that, even if Underwood is cleared of sexual assault allegations, he still faces a potential charge of soliciting prostitution.

It's also possible that charges are being contemplated against the women, for possible crimes such as lying to authorities, prostitution, and/or theft. (One of the early reports indicated that one of the women stole money from Underwood while the other one was sanding his floor, painting his fence, and/or waxing his car.)

So, under the circumstances, the delay isn't unusual. Indeed, more than a month passed before the prosecutor in Georgia announced on April 12 a decision not to pursue charges against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Underwood's case is more complicated, especially since there's a chance that, in the end, multiple people could be charged with something other than sexual assault.

Packers? Brandon Underwood pleads no contest in prostitution case
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 3, 2011

The strange case that began last year with two women accusing members of the Green Bay Packers of sexually assaulting them appears to have come to an end with one Packers player pleading no contest to soliciting prostitution.

Packers defensive back Brandon Underwood has entered a no-contest plea, the chief of police in Lake Delton, Wisconsin, announced.

The case first came to our attention in June, with a report that six members of the Packers were being interviewed over a sexual assault claim by two women. The women were initially claiming that one Packers player raped them while other Packers players held them down.

That story later changed dramatically, to an allegation that Underwood brought the two women back to a cabin after meeting them at a strip club, and that he paid them for sex but threw them out of the cabin when he discovered them in the process of stealing from him.

Underwood?s no contest plea appears to end any legal proceedings against anyone on the Packers. There?s no word on whether the women are being charged with any crimes related to prostitution, filing a false police report or the alleged attempted theft.

Green Bay Packers DB Brandon Underwood convicted, fined on prostitution charge
March 2, 2011

LAKE DELTON ? Green Bay Packers defensive back Brandon Underwood has entered a no-contest plea to one count of prostitution ? nonmarital sexual intercourse.

Underwood, 24, of De Pere, was found guilty and fined $379 by a Sauk County judge, Lake Delton Police Chief Thomas Dorner announced Wednesday in a news release.

The conviction will be expunged from Underwood's record in 12 months if he pays the fine, according to Wisconsin court records posted online.

Underwood appeared in Sauk County Court in connection with the June 10 incident at the Wilderness Golf Cabins in this small Wisconsin Dells community. Two women alleged they had been sexually assaulted by a Packers player.

Multiple players had been in the Lake Delton area for a charity event, and police quickly cleared the other players of any wrongdoing. The allegations against Underwood dragged out for months with authorities refusing to explain why.

Lake Delton police refused to field questions from reporters and callers were told Dorner was not available for additional comment.
