CB Armani Reeves (National Champion)

Here's my thought about Reeves: if he has to miss an entire year because of multiple concussions suffered in 2014, then I don't want him back in a Buckeye uniform. I really don't want him back in a football uniform anywhere, but there's no controlling that.

If I'm on the tOSU staff I tell this young man his education is paid for, he can complete his degree, but that we can't support his continuing to play football. This has nothing to do with "oversigning" issues, but rather his long-term health. And I think this would be wise from a legal perspective also.

Ah, I was not aware of the most recent one. Guess that's what I get for never reading the articles at the links provided. Thanks for the info.
I'm not sure if it was in the articles, as these days they tend to parrot what the interview or tweet said.

As for Tanner, I have no idea about his severity, though he's been dinged up a lot. Without any inside info that one feels like a more gracious roster move, where instead of refusing to renew his 5th year fr special teams they gave him a paid final season to study.

My view is the same. Concussions is the one of the few injuries that don't appear to get better with time. If you've had 4 concussions the 5th is more likely to happen whether you wake a week, a month or a year and the long term brain damage can be devistating. IF you have to take a year off to recover fully from symptoms of a concussion I wouldn't let you near the field ever again.

I agree with both of these, except maybe the staff is doing the "wait a year and see how things look at that time" thing. While concussions are extremely serious business, I'd hate to completely close that path of the kid's life when it really doesn't have to be decided, yet.

It cannot be said enough how scary this stuff is. Even there in that new story it says they could find a doctor to clear him to play if that is what he wants, sounds like he has the right people in his ear talking about what is best for his future. For most people trying to understand the amount of work these young men have put in over their young lives to get to the point they are (playing football in college) is not even possible. Those with some coaching backgrounds and those inside the programs themselves know these kids will run through a brick wall if it means they get to line up and play another game in their careers. Major props to his Godfather for stepping in and looking out for him. As hard as it is, it is the right thing.

I wish Armani a great career and hope he is able to stay connected to the program and his brothers.
