Last night was pretty ugly, but the Cavs came away with the win against a team that whooped on them in the Q a few weeks ago. I don't know what to make of Z in a game like this. He can't cover smaller quicker players that have a good post game like Atlanta has or guys like Jermaine O'Neal for that matter, but they can't cover him either. Unfortunately that usually puts Z in foul trouble. On the bright side Marshall caught fire in Z's absence from the 4th quarter last night and hit some huge shots. They never even put Z back on the court to get he 6th foul. Gooden, Marshall, and Wild Thing are all quick enough to defend the smaller quicker centers, which helps when Z is out of the game.
The Cavs are 3-0 with Pavlovic starting. I don't know if it has anything to do with him or if they are just playing better with Jones and Marshall back in their normal roles. Pav had his worst offensive game as a starter last night.
Tomorrow's game against the Pacers will be interesting. O'Neal should be out with the groin, but they will have Stojakovic so it will be a different team than Tuesday. It seems like the Pacers won't have anyone who can play well in the paint so Z should have a field day and not have to worry about foul trouble. This will be a big game for the Cavs. There are only 4 easy games over the next month culminated by back to back games against Detroit at the end of February. Who the hell came up with that schedule?

Peeved LeBron lights up Hawks

ATLANTA - LeBron James didn’t appreciate a fan’s attempt to disrupt his concentration with a laser pointer.
So he took out his frustration on the bumbling Atlanta Hawks.
“Those things can damage your eyes something bad,” James said. “I was standing at the foul line in the fourth quarter when the ref noticed a red dot near my forehead. That’s pretty serious.”
James had 38 points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers won their third straight game, 106-97, on Wednesday night.
An Atlanta police officer, who declined to give his name, said law enforcement was unable to find anyone using a laser pointer in the end zone near the Hawks’ bench.
James added that this game was the first in his three-year career that a fan used a laser light against him.
“They’re like those things guys used in high school,” James said. “I hope it’s the last we see of them.”
The Cavaliers were winning, 94-93, with 3:17 left when Donyell Marshall hit a 3-pointer that started a 12-4 run that ended the game. Marshall, who buried another 3 with 58.1 seconds remaining for a 104-95 lead, also complained to the officiating crew about the laser light as he stood at the foul line with 9:49 remaining.
“They were more when we were shooting our free throws,” Marshall said. “I couldn’t really tell when I was shooting my jump shots.”
James, the NBA’s third-leading scorer, hit 15 of 20 free-throw attempts, compared to 16 of 22 for the Hawks. He scored on consecutive possessions early in the fourth, the second of which came on a 3-pointer from the top of the key for a 92-86 lead.
“Coming off a back-to-back, with a big win last night against Indiana, it would have been easy for us to not bring intensity,” James said. “Early on, our team didn’t have intensity. I saw that and I had to pretty much take over matters. I’ve been able to take my team on my back.”
Joe Johnson scored 24 points and Al Harrington added 22 for the Hawks, who have lost seven of their last nine.
Johnson committed three of his four turnovers in the fourth quarter. Harrington had one in the third.
“In a close game like this, you’re battling and you can’t afford turnovers and allow them to score,” Harrington said. “When they were shooting free throws, we were taking jump shots. It doesn’t work that way. You’ve got to attack the basket.”
Atlanta’s biggest lead, 30-18, came on two free throws by Zaza Pachulia late in the first, but the Hawks couldn’t hold a 73-63 advantage after Harrington hit a long jumper at the 4:54 mark of the third and a 21-footer 31 seconds later.
“In the third quarter, everything was smooth,” Atlanta Coach Mike Woodson said. “We were moving the basketball. We got good shots and we came out of the quarter up by 6. Then in the fourth quarter, we got complacent and wouldn’t move the basketball, and that resulted in some key turnovers that they capitalized on. That was the difference in the game.”
Cavs forward Drew Gooden finished with 14 rebounds.
Cleveland outscored Atlanta, 23-8, on fastbreak points, including a layup by James that cut the Hawks’ lead to 82-80 with 10:25 left in the game.
James had two of his three steals in the fourth.
Each of Marshall’s four field goals was a 3-pointer. He attempted six shots beyond the arc, eight overall.
“I’m never satisfied,” Marshall said. “I think I’m hard on myself. I get yelled at from my teammates a lot when I miss a shot or two. I’m yelling at myself, no matter if we win or lose. Right now, I’m not happy. I think I can shoot a lot better than what my percentage is showing. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half for Cleveland, which improved to 8-1 in its last nine meetings with Atlanta, including four straight wins at Philips Arena. McKinley graduate Eric Snow had a game-high eight assists for Cleveland.

Big game against the Pacers tonight or maybe not quite as big with Stojakovic not reporting yet, and O'neal out for 8 weeks. At this rate the Pacers might be lucky to make the playoffs. Look for a really physical game tonight. If the Cavs can win it will give them the season series with the Pacers 3-1

My only worry is that Brown has been playing the same 7 guys and this is our 3 game in 4 days. He has to use his bench or these guys are going to tire out.

Also hopefully they come out and play hard and just stick it to them early, and keep the lead.

Yeah, Pavlovic went from not playing to playing more than 30 minutes a night and has been the only starter on the floor at the end of the past 2 games. Brown really needs to get Wild Thing, Jackson, and Wilks more minutes to keep everyone else fresh.

18 seconds left, Cavs up by 2 and LeBron at the line. Hit 2 ft's and the game is basically over. He airballs the first one !!!!! UGHHHHHHHHHHH.
He hits the second.

Play some D, boys.

Edit: Saved by Z, at the line: 12-12 from the ft line in the 4th, 15-16 for the game.

Great defense on Indy's last poss.

Final: 93-89, Cavs. Great job, Z.

Man he LBJ is really having his struggles at the line. I am glad we got this win over the Pacers. We are 3-1 against them and now hold the tiebreaker.

Not to be a downer, or beat a dead horse, but I have a serious concern.

We have played 3 games in 4 days and it will be 4 in 6 as we play the Suns, and I believe we have a pretty full schedule next week too.

Now as for the lineup We are seeing LBJ, Z, Gooden go for over 40 everynite, Pavs, Marshall, Jones, Snow going for about 30 Newble probably aroudn 25 and then sprinkle in Henderson with about 10-20 depending on foul trouble.

I know these guys are professional athletes, but I think that was the problem last year we just wore down. We have fresh guys sitting on the bench that are no worse than what we have out there, and they would bring energy to the game. I am not saying to start them and play them all game, but just get them 10-15 minutes. Put them out there, if they struggle well go back to your guns, but young talent doesnt develop sitting on the bench and the way to develop it is to put it out there. Hell Brown wont even put them in when we have a big lead.

Our legs are going to be dead here in going down the stretch.

Also does anyone think that in a year or two that LBJ is going to come very close to averaging a Trible doulbe. It seems that in his last 5 or so games he has flirted with a trible double being at about 6-9 range in both assists and Rebounds. I thik the assist number will really go up once Hughes is back and then 10 rebounds a nite really isnt a lot to ask.
