Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Contrary to Charles Barkley I think these are the best 2 teams in the East. Orlando is an easier matchup for the Cavs this year w/o Turk and with Shaq on Howard. Unless Howard developed a 15 foot shot over the off season Shaq can defend him for 20-25 minutes a game and allow the rest of the Cavs to guard the shooters.
The Celtics are going to be the hardest matchup for the Cavs in the East this season. I think they would be better off going small some rather than going big like they did. I thought that's why they signed Moon. I hope West can get back soon.

the cavs missing delonte was the issue tonight. first, he lets mo williams play off the ball on offense. that means either rondo stays on west, who will back him down, or allen is on west, and allen isn't quick enough to stay with him. allen expended no energy defensively guarding anthony parker. and, west would have done a much better job defensively on allen, and rondo when the situation arose.

signing guys like parker and moon weren't necessarily to handle the celtics. those were moves to deal with teams like orlando, now toronto, washington, and atlanta. it also helps in dealing with the lakers. in all actuality, a healthy leon powe would have been a great help tonight.

That 2nd quarter hurt tonight...ahh well 81-1's not bad.

Make that 78-4 as Cleveland has to face the C's three more times.

First and foremost - we really miss West - blindingly obvious
Parker was very disappointing - in all phases
Defensively, our backcourt is really slow - quick guards will wreak havoc
Defensively, Shaq looked very good
Didn't you just love when KG came ramming into the middle
We don't look aggressive - not focused... not in sync...
We still stand around... not ready for quick passes...
Conditioning seemed to be an issue

Only game 1 ..
but we could have won that game so easily

You can tell this team had a rough training camp due to the flu and not being on the same page. They were out of sync and still learning to play with each other.

Missing West was big, Antonio Daniels would be a GREAT addition as Boobie proved again, he cannot play PG in this league and should not get alot of minutes in this league.

The biggest thing though was Mike Brown's rotations. Seriously... how hard is it to figure out that the start of the 2nd quarter you play Shaq while LeBron is on the bench and you run the offense through him?

Also, an interesting dynamic this year is how Mike Brown will treat end games with teams like Boston (with quick frontcourts). Boston going Garnett & Sheed at the end, it is hard to keep Shaq out there isn't it? You would think a small lineup up AV, LBJ, Moon, Parker & Williams would have worked best. So if the best option is Shaq on the bench at the end games, how is Shaq going to react to that?

We are going to see some growing pains the first month with this team. I just hope we don't dig ourselves too big of a hole for overall playoff seeding.

As we've seen from last night and tonight big guys that can shoot are going to be a problem for this team. Mo isn't looking like Mo yet this season, 1 for 7 I think. Parker also needs to stop shooting off the dribble he's a catch and shoot guy. We really need West back. I didn't realize that he was #5 in the league in +/- last year.
