Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

This is an elite team. AT no point last night did the lead feel in danger. Anytime the Nuggets did something that seemed like it could swing the momentum, Delonte or Z went down and hit another big shot.

Had a great time. I'd say roughly 1/4 of the crowd were Cavs/LeBron fans. Only negative, the hotdogs were the worst I've had at any major sporting event.

I love this Cavs team. Getting the NBA package for this season was one of the the best decisions Ive made in a long time.

I think you're right, NF. This IS an elite team. The Cavs are right there with Boston and LA, and thank God too. I hate both of those teams.

The Cavs aren't having their usual 3rd quarter tonight. It's not like last year or the year before either, but OKC is knocking down shots and hanging around so far.

EDIT: And right after I write that, the Cavs finish the quarter strong to stretch their lead to ten.

Return of Gibson a boost for Cavs Guard misses almost two weeks with injured toe
By George M. Thomas
Beacon Journal sports writer

Published on Monday, Dec 22, 2008
OKLAHOMA CITY: Cavaliers coach Mike Brown could see that Daniel Gibson was getting antsy.
The Cavaliers guard injured his left big toe against the Toronto Raptors almost two weeks ago and he was a sight for sore eyes when he took the court with 1:22 to go in the first quarter of Sunday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It wasn't because the Cavs can't win without him.
They've certainly proven otherwise since Gibson and Zydrunas Ilgauskas suffered injuries within days of one another.
But Gibson, who had averaged 14 points a game in his past three games, found his groove just before the injury.
In short: he makes the Cavs better.
''When we've been whole, we've been pretty good,'' Brown said. ''The times we haven't, we struggled a little bit, whether it was foul trouble, rotation or something I screwed up.
''We're pretty good when we're whole and it's good to see those guys back quicker than what was expected.''

The Cavs beat another really good team at home tonight in the Rockets. Close game all the way through, but the Cavs pulled away at the end. The Rockets have at least one too many headcases to be a title contender, but they are still one of the best teams in the west and had been hot coming into tonight's game.
The Cavs now have a pretty easy road to a home game with Boston on Jan 9th. Boston has a game at the Lakers, at the Blazers, and a second game in 2 nights at home against the Rockets before the game with the Cavs. I'll love to see the Cavs run a new streak to that game and the Celtics drop a game or two.

I dunno Hawg, with the type of defense the Rockets play and Yao in the middle, if healthy, I could very easily see them come out of the West. The big problem everyone sees with the Lakers is their defense. That and come playoff time, Gasol will play the typical Euro-pussy game.

When you have 3 defenders like Battier, Artest and the Mongolian Freak, you can win.

Anyway, it's great to see Mo take more than 8 shots in a game. In clutch time, I want the ball in his hands.

Great win against a very good team.

I'm getting a little sick of all things Celtics. It's like the Patriots of last year and the Red Sox of the year before.

Cavaliers Still Unbeaten At Home

Bron got up so high on that alley from Mo. It's almost redundant to say it but the man is incredible every game out. Also it's nice how Gibson and Z and just come back from mild injuries still in the offensive flow. I guess that is what pros are supposed to do, but they came back like they never left. :)

Cavaliers Still Unbeaten At Home

The Cleveland Cavaliers survived what LeBron James called a heavyweight fight to defeat the Houston Rockets 99-90 on Tuesday night, and still remain the league's only undefeated team at home, the Associated Press is reporting.

"That's a great team," James said. "They're a proven team from the West and we're a proven team from the East and we bumped heads together."
