I'm a dog person (I have a smelly, stupid, 13 year old basset hound). My wife was a cat person (my retarded Cincy west side in-laws love cats) until we were married. She has since done a 180 and can't stand cats. If I can just get her to start disliking her family as much as she now hates cats life will be perfect.

Both, but I'm out of luck. I'm definitely not around enough to care for a dog. I would like to adopt a kitten - actually two for when I can't be here to entertain - but history shows that I only date guys who can't stand cats, so it seems wiser to hold off for now.

Well it looks like you're in luck... I love cats  . I don't know why, but I've never been a dog person. I mean, I can tolerate them, but I don't prefer them.

Jack Byrnes (Robert DeNiro) summed up the cat vs. dog thing just right in Meet the Parents:<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
"The dog is an emotionally shallow animal. If you yell at a dog, his ears will go down and his tail will cover his genitals even if he's done nothing wrong. It's very easy to break a dog. But cats make you work for their affection. Cats don't sell out like dogs do."
