The national champion QB for the Buckeyes was dealt by Buffalo for a conditional pick.

He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Now, former Ohio State star quarterback Cardale Jones has been traded to the Los Angeles Chargers for a conditional draft pick. He’ll join former teammates Joey Bosa and Joshua Perry on the West Coast just in time for training camp.

The trade makes sense, as the Bills had four quarterbacks on the roster and a new head coach running things. Now, Jones will have a real shot at being the backup quarterback behind Philip Rivers.

In his lone season in Buffalo, Jones appeared in one game, throwing for 96 yards on 6-of-11 passing. One of those passes went for 64 yards—which is his longest completion in the NFL.

Jones, who was known for throwing the deep ball at OSU, guided the Buckeyes to a national championship in the 2015 season after filling in for an injured Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett.
