Besides the obvious problem with the fumble, Navy stopped the clock twice, each time when they got a first down when trying to kill the clock. The QB first made a great move to stay in bounds, then got pushed out when he should have gone down quickly after getting past the chains. Then the RB fumbled out of bounds after he got the second first down. Without those clock stoppages, Navy would have been able to run a safe play on their last third down, and then punted with about 20 seconds left.
Plus the holding penalty that brought back the play that was close to a third first down, whcih would have iced the game. Brutal loss for the Midshipmen.
