  • I tried to rep this post by methomps to wish him a happy birthday, but when I submitted the rep it came back and said, "Sorry, you cannot give reputation to this post". I checked to see if I had given him rep with my last 10 reps (nope, and should've gotten the "Have to spread rep around" error message instead) and checked if I gave out more than 10 reps in 24 hours (nope, and should've gotten the "You have given out too much rep" error message instead). I also checked if the thread was locked (nope, but shouldn't make a diference for rep). I have never seen this error message before. What gives?

Since I'm sure you'd extend the same courtesy to others, I'll graciously suggest that next time you should search for 'reputation' or read the pinned post atop that forum.

You know, the last day or two you've been a little smart-ass bitch...how's that for a suggestion?

How would you suggest I treat someone that made a simple oversight?

Or is this only a one way street?
Clarity's post in which he informed us that he disabled rep was made yesterday at 5:51 PM (just over 24 hours ago), and was right before the SQL crash which shut down the site. I rarely go into the Pol-Sci forum and thus didn't see the thread, and when the site had the SQL hiccup last night it seemed obvious that the crash and subsequent reboot could've had some unexpected effects. Then again, any chance you get to make yourself look like a cyber-hero :roll1:

Just a couple from this month...
Uh, there's a difference between asking about an apparent functional error that appears immediately after a site crash and not searching for a subject--that has existed for a long while and has had significant conversation--before starting a thread on the very same subject. Try again...

We'll get started re-painting the street immediately.

  Is this your goal when you haze newbies about searching?

I've been hazed about the search engine numerous times, and deserved it since I also give it out.

It's pretty hard to understand your site crash context when it isn't given.

Uh, don't you get dizzy from all your spin jobs?

Only a sheepish geek would consider the words "Search function" as "hazing". As for my lack of context, I really didn't expect it was neccessary, in that my post was directed to the very person who worked the outage.

Go ahead...keep looking for a reason for your dig job so that you could look big in someone else's eyes. Don't worry, though...I'll give you more "hero ammo" down the road when I remind someone of the search function when it is actually deserved.

What am I spinning? You came out of left field with the cyberhero nonsense, somehow stemming from me calling you out on the search function. So I asked if you also sought a cyberhero status by calling out newbies on the search function.

You're free to explain this cyber-popularity contest at any time. Does someone gain in status by mocking flamers? doctorbs?

You often set people straight on the search engine. Yet when you're guilty of the same oversight, apparently no one is allowed to call you on it.
    Only a sheepish geek
Is this where I call you Mr. Tough Guy? And is this vStatus or the real world?
would consider the words "Search function" as "hazing".
So you don't give newbies a hard time about the search engine? You don't have to risk a hefty lawsuit to 'haze' someone, regardless of how you define the word.

What good will the ammo do? Even when you're guilty, you're still innocent.
