Can you hit a major league fastball?

I'm not about to try that link. It would probably slow this computer down to a stop. Or maybe even reverse.

But if I could hit a real, major league fastball, I don't think I would ever watch baseball, again.

this question has two answers...

can I hit a 90 mph fastball thrown by a pitching machine... yes, quite well in fact

can I hit a major league fastball thrown by a major league pitcher whose pitch dives, tails or lifts... Not even close... have had a couple occasions in which I was able to validate that in my life

Okay...if you know a fastball is coming, and it's a 90MPH fastball...you should be able to hit it. Unless it has a lot of movement on it, hitting a 90 MPH fastball when you know one is coming isn't that difficult unless you just have no cordnation what so ever. Now hitting a 98+ MPH fastball is something that IS NOT EASY. Or hitting a 90 MPH fastball when the pitch moves, or when the pitcher also has 2 other pitches that move and are slower and has a changeup. And you have NO CLUE what is coming. Also...if the picther can consistantly keep the ball down and on the corners, even a 90 MPH can be tough to hit. But just throwing them belt high right over the heart of the plate...u'd be surprised how easy it'd be to hit after you saw a few of them...now to actually hit them with any power, that's another story as well.

All this tests is how long it takes the signal from your brain to reach your right index finger telling it to twitch, which is already touching the button. A person with a MS could hit a home run doing this. I hit 8 homeruns out of 10 attempts with the best time being .031 sec and the worst being .183 sec. I still could not hit a 90 mph fastball.
