I sent my boss an email on Monday requesting Friday June 24th off to drive to Cbus for a wedding rehearsal/wedding on saturday. he replies back yesterday afternoon around 330 (i leave at 4) saying "no, you waited too long to ask and someone else is out that day" - this has never been an issue for 2 of us to both be off at the same time. he sends me another email at 415 asking me to work late next monday b/c we have a service guy coming in (basically babysit) and he made plans with his girlfriend. my reply was simple
Sounds like some crap that My Boss tried to pull a few weeks ago. I told here that in July I have to go to a wedding in New England and I was going to just take one of My vacations that week. She looks at Me and goes, well I will see what I can do, but dont plan on it. I responded back well either A) I am going to the wedding while on vacation, or B) I will be going to the wedding as a former employee of this company. So I guess We will just have to wait and see what happens

yeah why do employers have to make things such a big freaking deal. i just found out a few minutes ago that the guy that is "out" that day, will be in the building, but in meetings/training seminars all day...WTF! if there was an emergency (even if i was there) he would be involved! *cough* *cough* i think i'm coming down with the June 24th flu...

Brutus, finish your degree and join the Army as an officer. You could get branched Signal Corps and then you'd still be working in IT, but you'd be paid much better and every once in a while you might get to take part in an ass kicking.

June 24 ... hmm.... looks like that's St. Jean-Baptiste Day (Quebec). Are you French, eh?

i hate the french so much that i would claim to be french just for a day off. i would rather just call off...

my plan...

i start work at 730 (officially-but im salary so usually 735-750-boss doesnt show up until 815). i'm thinking of waiting until 7am, calling and telling him that i got half way to work and had to go back home because i puked all over in the inside of my car....

get this crap.....

i go into my weekly meeting with the boss today and the first thing he says is:

"are you taking the 24th off or not?"

i laughed and said you told me no, his reply was

"well if you are going to take it off, then mark it on the calendar"

is he bi-polar or something?!

Maybe he's on this board, and realized you'd be gone that day no matter what.

So now you wonder, who is he?
