    Buckeyes lose game 1

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Ohio State baseball team fell, 7-2, at Campbell on a chilly Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Jim Perry Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 3-6 on the year, while the Fighting Camels improve to 5-3 in 2017.

    CAMELS TAKE THE EARLY LEAD
Campbell came out swinging against Ohio State right-hander Adam Niemeyer in the bottom of the first, plating a run on three hits. Niemeyer recorded the first out when he picked off CU lead-off hitter Drew Butler, who started off the at-bat with a double to left center. But a single and double down the left field, put both CU runners in scoring position. A sac fly by Jimmy Monaghan plated the first run.

    CAMPBELL EXTENDS THE ADVANTAGE
In the bottom of the third, the Camels pushed their early lead to three runs when Jeff Hahs hit a two-run single up the middle on a 1-2 count vs. Niemeyer.

    Buckeyes win game 2

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Ohio State baseball team rebounded with a 7-1 win over Campbell Saturday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 4-6 in 2017, while the Fighting Camels drop to 5-4. Fifth-year senior Jake Post improved to 1-1 on the season with a career-high eight strikeouts to guide the Buckeyes to their first true road victory of the year. Zach Ratcliff had another big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two home runs, two runs scored, walk and three RBI. Jalen Washington was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, home run, two RBI and stolen base, while Bo Coolen went 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI and walk.

"We had a big first inning and we really responded well," head coach Greg Beals said. "We didn't do what we wanted to do last night and our guys responded and put a big number on them early. Jake Post did a great job. He was able to hit with his breaking ball and moved his fastball in and out, which is going to make him tough on opposing hitters. But we left 11 guys on base today, so we still need to work on finding that two-out hit late in an inning. We need to play clean tomorrow and respond again."

    Buckeyes win game 3, series

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Ohio State baseball team held on to a 7-6 victory Sunday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C. With the series win, the Buckeyes improve to 5-6 overall in 2017, while the Fighting Camels drop to 5-5 this season. Right-handed reliever Seth Kinker claimed the win, tossing two innings of relief work, while right-handed pitcher Yianni Pavlopoulos claimed his first save of the season.

“It’s good to get a series win on the road,” head coach Greg Beals said. “It’s very valuable, especially, after Friday night’s ball game when the tempo of the game was all Campbell. I really liked how our guys responded and came out and competed Saturday and Sunday to win the series. I liked the whole pitching staff. I thought Feltner’s start was strong. His process was good today. It’s nice having the bullpen set up with Yianni back out there to close out ball games.”
