Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

"The impersonator" is definitely the front runner for the heisman at this point

Newton is a decent player ... but he can't run Ohio State's offense.

Dude just ripped off a ridiculous TD run from about 45 yards through the LSU defense.

Yep that was a great run. He deserves the Heisman if he continues what he is doing. Plus he has another big game with Alabama coming up later in the season to prove himself.

there is no doubt that TP has improved since last year. but, when I watch Cam play i cant help but think that this is what was expected of TP when he arrived here.

at the same time Cam is a year older and i think one more year of college football experience does matter.

Expected in what way? I'd be willing to bet the farm if you took Cam and Pryor and put them in a pro-style offense Terrelle would be the better looking product.
The reason why he doesn't look quite as dominant is the true pocket passer style he's working so hard to evolve into. Take out Cam and put in TP where he's at now and I'm confident the results would be the same in Auburn (if not better); do the same thing here with OSU's offensive system and Newton would have his flaws as a passer exposed on a weekly basis.

I'm not saying Newton isn't a great football player, he really is. But much like Tebow, you have to wonder how much of it is really the offensive system that makes him the primary rushing threat on top of the yardage gained from the passing game.

I love TP. I do.

But if you want to talk about which #2 is elevating his team higher, you would have to be a real homer to say that it's TP.

Cam Newton should be the Heisman front runner.
Pryor would flourish in Auburn's offense; Newton would be lost in Ohio State's offense.

The same pundits who say that Pryor will be a WR in the NFL drool over one-dimensional, one-read option QB's like Denard and Newton. Whatever.

As far as Newton "elevating his team higher", we heard the same crap about Denard in week four. Still hearing that noise now?

The difference being Newton's played and excelled against some top-notch defenses. Laces Out put up mind-boggling numbers against the sisters of the poor. I have no doubt that you're right in saying Pryor is going to be the more NFL-ready QB by virtue of playing in OSU's offense, though.

Given that Auburn's offense has been more effective..this really shouldn't bother anyone.

He's far from an impersonator of anyone.

His choice of #2 when he came to Auburn given his height, weight, playing style etc is more then just coincidence if you ask me
