Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Wow... so I started the campaign around 7 PM tonight... finished around 2 AM and then played an hour of online... I'm in heaven, I just wish I didn't have so much to do for the rest of the month, otherwise I'd still be online whoopin up on everyone right now.

Fuck it, I might just have to get back online...

Bad ass game. Only played a few levels of the campaign. I thought the mountain climbing with the ice picks was pretty sweet. I enjoyed playing online. Will be much better once I get to know the levels a little bit more.

Mac - wasn't trying to ignore you earlier. Me and a few friends were trying to get together and you caught me right then. Then I forgot. :shake:

It's cool, play today sometime? I just finished my kinesiology project so I'll be playing it all day again lol. I'm such a loser.

Kinesiology? What are you, a Michigan football player or something?

I'm sure I'll be on today at some point. JWins, I'll add you when I get on.

Played part of a round in multiplayer. Got 4 kills and died 11 times. I suck so bad at COD multiplayer. Of course one time I forgot that the other team can see where you are when they have the UAV. Heard a guy coming and ducked behind a wall (I was crouched so I was silent). He pops around the corner and wastes me (at first I thought wall cheat, then I realized that damn UAV gives away position).

I may give it more time, but i think TF2 is more my speed. Not as much twitch gaming, and they don't give teams that are already kicking ass even more benefits. I never really liked that.

Nor do I. I could see an air strike if you do something incredible, like 12-15 kills in a row, but 2 kills to unlock a radar is bogus.

Is there any way to play straight up with even guns and no computer assistance? (heartbeat, uav, aircraft)

The graphics and weapons in this game are remarkable, but the game is all about imbalance.

The matchmaking seems random, not rank based... I went from 3-4 kills 18-20 deaths to 8-10 kills 12-14 deaths just by unlocking the scar.

Truly great games are built around balance imo. Incredible weapons like airplanes are usually lethal but fragile. Big monster weapons like tanks or sniper rifles are powerful but slow and don't escape very well.

This game series seems to be a race to see who can create the biggest imbalance for awhile.

Incredible game, just not sure if it my kind of game. I'll probably play it for another week and trade it in - rental - for assassin's creed 2.

The UAV's don't bother me. It's the damn air strikes. IMO Battlefield on the PC does it right. Each team has a commander and they control the UAV's, supply drops, and air strikes. You don't get those perks for getting a bunch of kills. Both teams get the perks for the entire game and you have to wait for them to recharge/reload before you can use them again.

I have only played one match online, so I am assuming the mp is like MW1.

Yes, although worse. Although I only played COD4 on computer. Not only does not having dedicated servers suck, but it actually feels worse gameplay wise. Oh well, I will keep playing a little more. I am finally at the point where I kill about as many as I get killed.

I agree. Battlefield does a better job with multiplayer. Battlefield games and TF2 are the only games where I really get into multiplayer. Of course the last time I was really good at multiplayer was BF1942. I used to be top player often in that game. Now I just suck. Most of that is just knowing the maps so well, and I don't have time to really get to know them anymore. Maybe once BF1943 hits PC I will play that, of course they got rid of many of the 1942 maps.

For all of you that don't like all this "extra" nonsense...Hardcore Team Deathmatch doesn't have UAV unless someone gets a killstreak...thus making it MUCH harder to get a killstreak. IMO the best gametype to play by far.

It's easier to killsomeone (less armor), just overall better.

The game is a lot better after you get used to it and get killstreaks. When you're the one getting the imbalanced stuff, it's a lot more fun.

yeah, I think that learning the maps is 80% of being good

also, the random drops can really turn the tide of an unbalanced game, I just played a game where my team was getting crushed, I randomly got a harrier from a supply drop which proceeded to rack up about 10 kills, turned the game around and we ended up winning

point is, it just takes some getting used to, and when you learn the maps it gets a lot easier
