C Nick Mangold (All American, B1G Champion, National Champion, 7x Pro-bowler, R.I.P.)

If some stranger saw his social media posts and decided they would like to start the process, would there even have been enough time?
I’m a stranger in Indiana that filled out the form on 10/14 when he made the post. I received confirmation my intake was received on 10/20. From there I would have to schedule a call with a donor consultant and then a blood test at a diagnostics center. Then fly to NY if all that checked out, I guess?

There was a 0% chance I was going to be useful to Nick but I guess I filled it out anyway.

That said, I am now encouraged to look into local hospitals and organizations so maybe I can help somebody someday. So credit to Nick on getting me to do this.

I genuinely feel like I was gut punched when I saw it come up on the ESPN clip.

If I could go back and relive that 2005 season every year, I would. Nick was a big reason for that. For as great a football player as he was, dude always seemed like he was equally as good a person.

I feel for his family and friends. I feel for his coaches along the way. Seeing Rex Ryan just break down in tears, you can't help but think coaches like Rex and Tress view this sort of loss as almost like losing a child.

Not sure what else to say. Not sure what else can be said. It's a collective hurt, one I'm hoping his family, friends and Buckeyes everywhere can resolve to work through together.

God speed, #55.
