Former Baylor Center Josh Ojianwuna Transfers to Ohio State

Ohio State's frontcourt is fully stocked for 2025-26.

On Wednesday, the Buckeyes added one last piece down low in former Baylor center Josh Ojianwuna.

Ojianwuna started 23 games for Baylor in 2024-25 before suffering a season-ending knee injury in February. He averaged 7.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 24.7 minutes of action per game.

Ojianwuna is Ohio State's fourth transfer portal addition this cycle, joining Christoph Tilly, former Wright State forward Brandon Noel and former Indiana guard Gabe Cupps.

He’s manages to shoot about 75% from the field over the past 2 seasons. He’s not taking any 3s, but it seems like he knows when to shoot and when not to. I think shot selection is an under-appreciated skill.

Any good or just big?
Just sayin': I think he could be a very good "role player" and/or consistent contributor. He doesn't look like a guy that can put the team on his back, takeover a game, and carry them to victory. The core of the 2025/2026 team will still be Thornton, Royal, and Mobley. With that being said, if the 2025/2026 team is going to be any good a couple of the transfers do have to really step up though.

He's Sean Stewart-like. Clearly the staff thinks they have the right idea of what types of players they need on their team and they have well-defined roles that they recruit for. The role Stewart had is definitely going to be the one Ojianwuna would fill - provided he is healthy. The big question-mark is how does he recover from his knee surgery, that's the gamble. They do have a skeleton crew they can use to man the frontcourt if he is unable to play right away (or at all this upcoming season). Assuming Josh is healthy and returns to form from last season, OSU won't miss Stewart at all.
