From the time the recruiting classes were finalized for 2002 I have been anticipating this game.

I’m ready.

The anticipation kicked up a few notches after the Michigan game last year.
Yes, I was looking past both Miami AND the bowl game.

I’m ready.

When my season tickets arrived I immediately separated this pair, looked at them lovingly and smiled from ear to ear.

I’m ready.

I can pretty much name every player in the Texas two deep.
I know where they were ranked in their recruiting class and how they have performed since.
I have read every publication that contains the words Texas or Ohio.
I know who is picking who to win and why.
I know the strengths and weaknesses of each team.
I have thought through endless permutations of how this might play out.

I’m ready.

My sleep habits have been out of sync for a week.
Now my stomach is in such knots I have trouble eating.

I’m ready.

I lay awake at night picturing the Texas DL collapsing our pocket – but not getting the sack.
I see the ball being dumped to Ted Ginn for long gains.
I see AJ Hawk drilling Young and laying him out flat.
I see every possible scenario without trying to think about it – it just flows.

I’m ready.

Everything I need to take to the game is already laid out.
I have made the decision NOT to take my camera to the game because I don’t want to be distracted by anything so trivial as taking pictures.
I have checked my game-day wardrobe and made sure everything is washed and ready.
I even have backup just in case.
My ‘large print’ two deep is printed and laminated.

I’m ready.

I check my wallet twice a day to make sure my tickets are still there.

Hang on a second –
Yes, still there.

I’m ready.

In those rare moments when I can back away half a step I recognize how totally insane my behavior is.
I don’t care.

I’m ready.

Let’s play this damn game.

I feel ya man.....great post. I check my "hiding spot" to make sure my tickets are still in place probably 3 times a day.

I have been waking up wishing it was Friday the 9th for a long time. I've got a cousin flying in from Maryland, and him and I will hit some pregame festivities tomorrow night. Then we'll wake up Saturday morning and head down, that's when the fun starts.

Oh8ch,

Great post, but I have one question. Is your Tivo/DVD recorder/VCR all set to record the game? Do you have a backup plan in case your house loses power?

Just covering all the bases.

That's anal.

You should already have the 2 deep memorized.

Great post , Oh, especially the part about checking your tickets all the time.
Just rest that throat so I can hear you from home.

I so agree, I will have to take a vacation day For Friday, since I can't get any work done around here anyway. Maybe get the grass cut and start wetting my palette with some barley and hops.

Help

I have to be in Rio Grande for the Bob Evans 4-H trail competition with two of my kids this weekend.
I called the school and looked all over the internet and couldn't find any place to watch the game.
The only place I found was a sports bar about 25 miles away. I don't want to drive that far and drink any beer.
ANY IDEAS ON A PLACE CLOSE BY.
I will watch it at that place without drinking any beer but that doesn't sound as appealing!

Try the Courtside Bar and Grill in Gallipolis. About 13 miles away.
