Buy at Amazon, support BP!

Naturally the weather is owning Kentucky right now, which is the Amazon hub for Columbus residents like myself. As a result, their shipments have been quite delayed. I opened a chat line about this and was quickly offered free 1 day shipping on another free order. Even better, I explained that I wished to place my own order to make sure the BP referral went through. He was happy to adjust the shipping price of my new order to be free to help BP out (ok, he didn't know who the referral was, but I'm sure he would have been on board).

Amazon customer service is consistently very pleasant and helpful. Kudos.

Absolutely shameless plug ahead-

My uncle's book about the Columbus Chill was just released this week. He covered the the team for the Dispatch and authored the book with David Paitson, the President and GM of the team. There is also a foreword from Bob Hunter. I got an advanced copy about a month ago and for anyone that spent time growing up at the Fairgrounds with the Chill, this is definitely a walk down memory lane and a really great story that leads in to the formation of the NHL Blue Jackets.

Highly recommended for Columbus residents, hockey fans, or sports readers in general. Use the BP referral link and maybe buy a couple copies. 8D

In the news today:

Amazon has announced a Midwest expansion in Ohio that will include 1,000 well-paying jobs over several years.

Ohio's deal with the retailing giant was announced Friday. It adds a third data computing center in the Columbus suburb of New Albany to previously announced centers in Dublin and Hilliard.

Vice President Paul Misener (MEYEZ-nuhr) says Amazon.com will begin collecting Ohio sales taxes from online customers Monday as part of the deal.

Officials couldn't immediately estimate potential sales-tax receipts for Ohio from the change. Misener said if online purchases were subject to similar rules in all 50 states, which would require a federal law change, Ohio's share of sales-tax collections on all online purchases would be between $150 million and $300 million.

This story corrects that the estimated sales tax proceeds for Ohio would come from all online retail purchases, not just Amazon.

Wife just ordered a couple pair of jeans from Amazon using the BP link. Las week she ordered some calendars, a Little Tykes basketball goal for the grandson, and a couple Yo-zuri fishing lures using the link. We're going to buy the stuff anyway, may as well use the BP Amazon link and make sure BP gets a little $ in the process.
