Game Thread Buffalo Bulls at tOSU, Aug 31, 12 ET, ESPN2

This week is officially going to slow.

You ain't kidding.

What I am looking for Sat is for the Ohio State offense to start quick and not have the 1st Qtr doldrums they showed early last year.

And like everyone else, I really want to see a defensive front 7 that controls things. It seems that the Bucks are heavy favorites to win the Leaders (can't wait til we get rid of those division names) as well as the BIG. But I want to go to Pasadena - and not for the Rose Bowl. For them to get there, they need to be a lot better than they were at this time last year. I believe they will be, but my stomach will feel better when I see it.

I guess the thing that I am looking forward to the most is the unwrapping of some of the touted freshman class. Also, I am very eager to see how the linebackers look this season. Aside from Shazier, this unit still worries me. I hope to see playmakers at the other two spots. We can't be a great defense without a great middle linebacker....IMHO.

Wasn't there a 2 or 3 week stretch when tOSU was down 10-0?

I'd sure like them to step on the "bad" teams throats, quickly. No letting IU/Purdue/Illinois/Buffalo/SDST hang around. I'll feel better if they can get early leads and cruise against overmatched teams.

Yeah, and that too. :)

I'm interested in seeing if the problems that showed up against weak teams at the beginning of last season show up again. .... On defense: tackling and leverage. .... On offense: slow starts and being out-gameplanned initially. Last season the offense stunk for at least for the first quarter or two,

JT trained me to expect to be losing going into Q4 and to finally win by 3 or fewer points. And I voted that tOSU would be undefeated national champs.
