    Bucks win Game 1 10-1

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? The Ohio State baseball team opened its Big Ten slate with a 10-1 win over Purdue Friday evening at Alexander Field. The Buckeyes improve to 13-6 with the win while the Boilermakers fall to 7-12.
?It?s always important to get the first win of the series under our belt,? Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. ?We got some key hits but the pitching and defense was rock solid as well. Jaron pitched well again and not only was able to get us off on the right foot but he again was able to eat up innings and keep our bullpen intact for the doubleheader tomorrow.?
Ohio State wasted no time threatening against Purdue starter Brad Schreiber as Tim Wetzel doubled down the left-field line to lead off the game and a Ryan Cypret walk put runners at first and second with nobody out. However, Pat Porter struck out and Purdue catcher Sean McHugh threw out Wetzel trying to steal third for the second out of the inning. Aaron Gretz then hit hard grounder back up the middle that deflected off Schreiber?s glove and right to second baseman Brandon Krieg who threw to first for the final out of the inning.

    Buckeyes sweep double-header 8-3, 7-0

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? The Ohio State baseball team took both games of a doubleheader from Purdue to sweep the series against the Boilermakers Saturday at Alexander Field. The Buckeyes won the first game, 8-3, before picking up a 7-0 victory in the nightcap. Ohio State improves to 15-6 on the season, 3-0 in Big Ten play, while Purdue falls to 7-14, 0-3 in conference play.
?It?s great to sweep the weekend to be 3-0 in the conference,? Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. ?More than anything, I just like how we?re playing baseball. We?re pitching well, throwing strikes, playing good defense and getting timely hits. We didn?t commit an error all weekend and I think we?re developing an identity on the offensive side of the ball as to how we?re going to hit and score runs.?
    Game 1
Ohio State was able to threaten early for the second-consecutive game when the Buckeyes loaded the bases with one down on three-straight singles by Ryan Cypret, Pat Porter and Aaron Gretz against Purdue starter Jordan Minch. Jacob Bosiokovic then lined an RBI single to right to score Cypret for the Buckeye lead as every runner moved up a base and Kirby Pellant followed with a single to right to score Porter to give Ohio State a 2-0 advantage. With the bases still loaded and just one down, Minch was able to strike out Brad Hallberg and get Joe Ciamacco to ground out to short to end the inning but the Buckeyes forced the freshman to make 47 pitches in the top of the first.
