Buckeyes' Post-Texas Poll Rankings (merged)

And 9th is sure better than 12 and better than 16 and so on.

I can see where Texas runs the big xii. That conference seems eminently beatable. I can also see where USC runs the Pac 10. That worries me, I must admit. But, not a lot we can do about that. Just gotta keep the faith.

I'm not too dissappointed with #9. That's the last game we'll lose this year.
Alot of the teams in front of us will lose at some point.

We'll creep up slowly and be amongst the top 5 in no time.

USC and Texas have a good chance to go undefeated, but , you never know. If SC were to lose, it would be better for it to be much later in the season. I really don't think either will lose.

If we win out, which I think we will, at worst, we'll be playing in a BCS game.

:oh: :io:

Since I live in Roanoke Virginia near blacksburgh I must say that Va Tech is not over rated. They have a tremendous defensive line, and IMO the best in the nation. Yes even better than Texas (although texas is great). Va Tech could very well run the table and get into the championship game if indeed they win at UVA. Other than Va Tech I think everyone has a almost certain chance to lose 1 or 2 games. Va Tech's schedule is soft and I just don't see them losing more than 1 game

AP Poll

You guys dop to #9. Way too big of a drop, if you ask me. At least you're still top 10. Freakin' LSU at #3. Are you kidding me? They play 1 game and barely beat Arizona State at the last minute?

Go kick some Aztec ass. It'll make you feel better. :)

Focusing on just the upcoming week:

1) We must beat SDSU convincingly in order to....

2) Jump the UT/UF loser

3) Root for BC to beat FSU

If all goes well we could be #7 this time next week with a top 25 opponent in Iowa coming up.

Worse case is we sleep walk and struggle with SDSU and don't jump the UF/UT loser while FSU wins and widens the gap.

Middle ground is we jump the UT/UF loser but FSU wins and stays ahead of us.

Well I think if Tenn. loses that we should be ahead of them, b/c they almost lost to UAB. If Fl. loses well I guess you could make a case, but we lost earlier, that is how it always works against us.

I think BC has a great shot to knock off FSU. Lets just hope it happens.

I'm suprised we are still top 10.
Don't get me wrong. I still think we are a top 5 team, just loosing at home should knock you down quite a bit.

What? Yeah, it was at home, but it was against the consensus #2 team in the nation, and it was a game we should have won. I think we should be #5, or #6 at the lowest.

Bunch of crap. #9? We showed ourselves quite capable of being top 5 as one team had to lose.

Though one thing is for sure. Pick a damn qb and move on. Im sick of Tressel playing footsies with their emotions and to just pick someone to head this team.

How far USC drops WHEN they lose will depend upon a couple things.
1) How high is the team they lost to ranked
2) When they lose
3) How lopsided the score is
4) How every other team in the nation prevails.

1) Since USC plays NOBODY this year, #1 works in our favor.
2) Since they play NOBODY, it's not likely #2 comes into play
3) and 4) are irrelevant unless they lose to one of the cupcakes they play

Power 16: ESPN "expert" ballots

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2153553

If you want to see something irritating, follow the above link, and look at Rico Longoria's power 16. You won't find us. Who the f is this idiot? How can he possibly have Purdue, who struggled with Akron, and scUM, who was embarrassed at home by ND, ahead of us? Not that the other teams ahead of us deserve to be there. Other than this moron, we're ranked anywhere from #4 to #10.

I think we are #9 on the actual ESPN Powerpoll...so I'm guessing some have us pretty high to counteract this idiot

Well that would stand to reason. Frankly though if Rico can't put a -3 point loss to the then #2 ranked team in the land into perspective he needs more than glasses. A flashlight to show him the exit from his rectum would be apropos.

Pete Carroll has said all along that his team's biggest challenge this season would be maintaining its focus, and we're guessing he may have a hard time getting his USC players to focus on an Arkansas team that just lost to Vanderbilt. Not that the Trojans shouldn't still win by 30.

Enough about Vince Young and the 'Horns' offense. How about the performance of Texas' defense against Ohio State? Showing off impressive speed, DE Tim Crowder got great pressure on the Buckeyes' quarterbacks, and the 'Horns' veteran secondary completely shut down Ted Ginn Jr.

It was only Duke, but Virginia Tech's defense allowed just 35 yards of offense the entire game in a 45-0 victory. That's absurd! The Hokies have gone 9-1 in conference play since joining the ACC. No wonder the other ACC schools didn't originally want to invite them.

Under normal circumstances, I would temper my reaction to the Tigers' impressive win at Arizona State with alarm over the fact their defense allowed a staggering 560 yards, but considering LSU spent much of the prior two weeks housing and caring for Katrina evacuees, they get a mulligan.

It's judgment week for Urban Meyer. The Gators' offense has been impressive enough against Wyoming and Louisiana Tech (443 yards per game), but is it really ready for Tennessee? Meyer is either playing it coy or is extremely nervous. "We better be on our game," the coach said.

What a difference a week -- and a step up to an SEC defense -- made for D.J. Shockley. The Dawgs' QB was just 8-of-17 passing for 112 yards and two interceptions. No need to hit the panic button just yet -- for whatever reason, Georgia always struggles against South Carolina.

Saturday night had to be a harsh blow for Jim Tressel. His team excelled at the two areas he values most, defense (with the exception of Texas' last drive) and special teams, yet still lost. It's time for Tressel to stick with one QB, and to make sure Ginn never has another two-catch game.

Next game: Saturday vs. Eastern Michigan.</td></tr></tbody> </table>
