Carpenter , Hawk won’t play

Scouts will have to wait until the NFL combine in February to see Ohio State linebackers A.J. Hawk and Bobby Carpenter.

Neither is participating in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, Carpenter because his injured right leg is not fully healed and Hawk because he likely will be a high pick regardless.

"He is healing well, but (the leg) just wasn’t 100 percent," said Jimmy Sexton, Carpenter’s agent. "He was having a little trouble cutting laterally."

Sexton said Carpenter should be fine by the combine, which begins Feb. 21 in Indianapolis. Carpenter suffered a broken bone in his lower right leg on Nov. 19 at Michigan. He is viewed as a late first-round draft choice.

Center Nick Mangold is playing in the Senior Bowl, at 4 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.
