BuckeyePlanet Mock Draft

With the last pick in the 2nd round, New England selects CB Eric Green from Virginia Tech.

Has a long, lean build with adequate muscle definition, but does have room for additional growth. Has very good short-area quickness with an explosive break on the ball. Has no problems retaining plays and is rarely caught out of position due to his ability to quickly make reads and keys. Has above-average change-of-direction agility, balance and body control, doing a nice job of keeping plays in front of him.
Yeah, but can he hit the curveball at this level?

Oops, Sears was making a pick for that OTHER world champion team in New England.

Never Mind. :!

With the 65th pick of this years draft, the San Francisco 49ers Trade their pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for Jon Kitna and their 3rd round pick #88

The reason the 49ers decided to trade their pick was based entirely on the loss of Eric Green from the draft board. Green was the top pick left on the board and with his loss, the 49ers didnt want to draft any of the CB's left as this time. Plus with this trade the 49ers filled an obvious need with kitna. While kitna is more of a temporary fix for the niners, he could step in better than any QB in this draft.

Ok Mothra... you are no longer allowed to be the GM for the Bengals. Cuz no way would the Bungals make so many great moves in one draft. Maybe in the next 20 years they can match the good moves you have pulled off.

With the 65th pick of the 2005 nfl draft, the cincinnati bengals select Donte Nicholson, SS, Oklahoma... trading jon kitna was a risky move, but with the win now attitude i am instilling upon the bengals, it was a move we had to make. we believe we can select a qb later in the draft and groom him under the tutledge of ken zampese and carson palmer. the selection of nicholson continues the defensive overhaul, now having the holes in our lb, dl, and ss filled. for san fran, it gives them a quality starter for a few seasons, allowing them to groom a younger qb under his tenure there. who-dey!

Thats actually a hell of a trade for both sides.
Agreed, great trade by both teams. That is the problem, if the real Bungals did they trade they would have only gotten a conditional 6th rounder for next year. Now that is more like a Bengal trade.

St. Louis is on the clock

Sit tight while Buckeye Maniac gets back from school. I'll even give him a little help:

  • Johnathan Babineaux, DT, Iowa
  • CJ Mosely, DT, Missouri
  • Ron Fields, DT, Miss. St.
  • Jovan Haye, DE, Vanderbuilt
  • Bill Swancutt, DE, Oregon St.

ok, Buckeye Maniac didn't get on last night, and I dont feel like waiting until he gets out of school again today. Sorry BM, but your fate is in the hands of the voters now.

This vote is a little strange also. I PMed BM and told him since he got a little screwed out of his last pick, I would trade him Patterson for Terry straight up. You guys need to vote on if you would do that trade, and then if so who you would pick. Obviously if the trade goes through none of those guys up above would be drafted. If you wouldnt do the trade (if you were in BM's shoes), then you can just pick one of them and vote three times. Otherwise, possible draft choices are:

  • Stanley Wilson, CB, Stanford
  • Darrent Williams, CB, Oklahoma State
  • Evan Mathis, OG, Alabama
  • Logan Mankins, OG, Fresno State
  • Any other players?
Sorry Buckeye Maniac.

I'll throw a vote for Swancutt. He's a top pass rusher from the Pac-10 whose stock dropped because of a bad 40 time. Just like Terrell Suggs dropped, and he can play.
