Tagging Users in Posts
The new version of BuckeyePlanet gives you the ability to tag other users in your posts. Simply type "@" right before the username of the person you want to tag. As you type, BuckeyePlanet will suggest usernames so you often won't have to type the whole thing.

Example: @jlb1705. Simple as that.

When you tag a person, they will receive an alert if they have their preferences set up to allow it. Tagging people in posts is a great way to get somebody's attention, attract a certain poster to an ongoing discussion, or reply to somebody without quoting them. Having your own preferences set to receive alerts when you are tagged in somebody eles's post (or even just quoted) is a good way to make sure you stay in the loop when somebody responds to you in a discussion. You don't have to keep checking a thread over and over to find out - BuckeyePlanet can let you know. You can customize these alerts through the Alert Preferences in your control panel. Simply click or hover your cursor over your username in the navbar to find Alert Preferences in your control panel menu.

Any questions? Explanations unclear? Reply in this thread and we can help each other out.
