BuckeyePlanet Homework

It's off to a great start, Buckeyedynasty. Now, we can discuss Tatum's page on the discussion thread for that page. I recommend everyone who creates a page also create a discussion thread by clicking on the "Discussion" tab on your player's wiki page (unless Clarity thinks this will create too many talk pages).

I'm not worried about how many discussion threads we spawn. I've got them hidden from the TopX threads area, so they shouldn't pollute the site at all.

Am I the only one who questions the participation of a known USC fan? I feel that our (buckeye)national security will be weakened by the participation of known Pac-10 peeps. Is there any way that we can hide this and other features from known "outsiders?"

Don't hate on Deety. She's harmless. She's taken a loyalty oath.

No, the editor works within the browser - in a manner like the post reply applications that you use to post your question. Though, the editor icons, the syntax for links and general interface, will appear unfamiliar at first.

EDIT: Unless you specifically see a link on the Main Page for adding new pages you may not have rights (right now) to add new pages?

To create a new page, search for the page you want (ie "Sabby Piscitelli") and there is a link to create the page if it doesn't exist. You can also edit the url (using _ as a space) to go to the page:

Ok Clarity, I figured out why I couldn't see the links. It was because I was in BP_Nightgame. I can see them fine in _Daygame or _Afternoongame. I don't know if that makes it easier to fix or not.

1) Is there anyway to archive/backup our work? It would be a shame to see a troll ruin everyone's contributions.

2) What is the policy on reusing Wikipedia biographies? Can we use an existing profile, and add to it? Or are we looking for unique writeups that are also concise?

You should be able to revert a page to a set point in time by using the history function.
(From which I take it that a "version" of the page is held in a database until explicitly deleted).
As for using Wikipedia biographies, perhaps a good rule of thumb is the approach taken at answers.com, which frequently consists of a repackaging of prior Wikipedia contributions.

Thanks gk.

Reusing existing profiles could save time for organization (more thorough linking), unique tidbits (which only an OSU fan would know or care to learn/write), & perhaps other profiles.

Well I finally got started on my Mike Doss (almost finished) and Joey Galloway (just begun) pages. I'm not gonna lie this is a very cool idea and I'll try to contain myself from hogging everyone! With that said, of course, haha, as I've seen noone has taken him yet... Troy Smith. Some others I'd like to also do unless someone objects: Brian Robiskie, Nate Salley, Quinn Pitcock, Michael Jenkins, Gary Berry, Buster Tillman, and Ahmed Plummer. Just to name a few...

Also, I'd like to throw out to anyone if they're stuck on a particular player and they need some info on some players whether it be for stats, info on when they played, awards they got, etc. or if you just want to look at a long list of great buckeye names to pick from, feel free to dust off my old Greatest Numbers Threads:

I have to say I am having a hell of a time getting pictures put onto my page. I've read the little cheat sheet but I am still not getting it to work. Any advice besides a hope and a prayer? :)
All I can offer you is make sure you are uploading them on the left side of the screen. It took me a little while before I realized that you needed to upload the pictures and then just take the title of that picture and insert it into the command:

Ex. I just uploaded a picture of Troy Smith called 201919.jpeg. So I copied the jpeg title and then inserted it into the IMG command: [[Image:201919.jpeg]], and the picture works perfectly!

Hope this helps!
