Good draft tonight, I'm glad everybody was able to show up.

Draft position is always interesting. Having the tenth pick was kind of nice, since it means I got back-to-back picks early in the draft. After that though, it's a long wait for your spot to come back around, and the further along you get, the stronger the impulse is to reach.

I had targeted Stafford and MJD with my first two picks. Stafford was a key player in my mind - QBs are mostly fungible, but last year there was a 100-point drop from the worst QB in the top tier to the best QB in the second tier. I wasn't surprised to see him come off the board before my spot came up for that reason though. That left me with Lynch as a consolation prize. Not bad I guess. I'm not convinced that he's not a one-year wonder but you can't pass up a RB who had a year like he did. MJD was on my team last year, and at the time he was my consolation prize for not being able to re-draft Aaron Rodgers like I had planned. Didn't work out too bad last time. MJD comes with his own questions. Am I going to be left holding the bag when his role or production decreases? This year at least, the possible reward outweighs the risk it seems. He has been a plug-and-play kind of guy for several years not, and even if there is a drop off it may just means he falls back toward the pack of very productive runners that would be a RB1 or RB2 in most lineups.

Besides my keepers, I ended up bringing back a several players that featured in last year's team. One of them was Matt Ryan. I picked him ahead of all the other second-tier options left. Perhaps I could've waited another 20 picks and still got a guy who would have been similar in production, but I know I've been able to count on him in the past and out of the second-tier guys he seems like the most likely to make the step up to the next group with the situation his team is in right now. We'll see.

I started punting some of my picks much earlier than I expected. If you looks at my mid to late rounds, you can tell I'm trying to find a value RB to emerge as a keeper for next year since I won't be able to keep Shady again. Overall, I'm happy with my RB depth for this season, we'll see if I was able to hit with any of my lottery tickets.

My team sucks, and sucks hard. But I don't think it will suck quite as badly as it did last year. One good thing is I pretty much have 2 every-week receivers, so I don't have to worry about matchups there. My RB2 might be passable most weeks, but my flex position is going to be Antfarm Dickhole all season. If Vick can stay healthy, I can at least compete most weeks.

Oh, the damage:

QB: Vick, RGIII
RB: Forte, Helu, McGahee, Kevin Smith, Stewart
WR: J Jones, Nelson, Blackmon
TE: Pettigrew, Tamme
K: Bryant
D: Houston, Buffalo

First time in a little while I feel underwhelmed with my draft. I'll feel a whole lot better about it once Adrian Peterson (2nd rd) and Hakeem Nicks (3rd rd) get back to being 100% healthy. Like Jlb, I felt super worried I wasn't able to get a 1st tier QB. This will be the first time since this league started that I won't have either Brady or Brees leading my team. That said, I was very happy to get Tony Romo where I got him, and if he continues to play like he did tonight, that streak of 1st tier QB's won't stop this year. Excited to have 3 solid starting RBs and 3 solid starting WRs with some young, promising depth at both positions, particularly at RB. I've got my fingers crossed that what happened to my RB's last year (busts of epic proportions and bad, ill-timed injuries) doesn't happen again this year, because last year was an absolute nightmare. If I had to change anything about my draft this year, I think I might not have paid quite so much attention to players' bye weeks and maybe picked up a back-up QB instead of taking an extra WR. I'm hoping I didn't take Wilson too high, though the last time I thought I really reached for an unproved RB, it turned out to be Arian Foster. Overall, I think this is going to be a solid but unspectacular team down the stretch, though I don't think this team will do all that well early in the season due to inexperienced depth and the aforementioned injuries Nicks & Peterson are dealing with.

QB: Tony Romo
RB1: Arian Foster
RB2: Adrian Peterson
WR1: Hakeem Nicks
WR2: Brandon Lloyd
FLX: Fred Jackson/DeSean Jackson
TE: Jermichael Finley
D: Seattle
K: Garrett Hartley

Bench:
RB: David Wilson, Ryan Williams, Ronnie Brown
WR: Greg Little, Titus Young

Good lord... Peyton and the Denver D almost bailed me out this week.... If one TD hadn't gone to Decker, I would have had it!

Shonn Green bailed me out BIG time. I thought he was going to have a decent enough game for a RB2/RB3 against Indy, but I couldn't believe his numbers. Or your numbers when I woke up. What a game last night, eh?

I saw him out there on waivers and with my waiver priority I would have got him if I wanted him. I really could have used him this week with MJD on a bye and everybody else picking this week to shit the bed. Good pickup.

Thanks! I had the #10 waiver priority after picking up Peyton Hillis earlier in the season (I knew better...). When I saw Shonn out there, I put a bid in on him, thinking I have nothing to lose. He was playing TERRIBLY, but at least he was starting. Was surprised to see him on my roster later in the week, because I thought for sure someone else would put in a bid for him. After Ryan Williams went down for the year and Fred Jackson was busy coming back from injury (and into a timeshare), I'm glad Shonn was out there.

I guess fantasy football is starting up again already. I need some time before I can get things fully set up. I have gone ahead and renewed the league. If you're still in for this season go ahead and accept the invite and respond in this thread. Let me know if there are problems with the draft time I select. I'll try to get the rest of the stuff together in the coming weeks.
