Never take a NCAA tourny win for granted!!!!! They are never easy. Never the less, good luck Lady Bucks I'll be watching on ESpin... :osu:

The first round of the women's tournament is an utter joke. It's hilarious that they actually have 64 teams. They used to have 48, and expanded it just to show they were as "good" as the men. Which is a stupid notion. Women's BB is like women's tennis. Just fast forward to the quarterfinals and you won't miss anything of substance.

What a blow out. However, the Bucks came out flat. They only made 1 out of about the first 8 shots, and that won't cut it against better competition. Jessica also had a few of her early shots blocked by the Holy Cross center. We will be at the Comcast Center for Tuesday's 2nd round game. Hopefully the recent 2nd round jinx is over.

Yeah it does, but I think if they play the way they played against Holy Cross in the second half they will roll.

The game is tues. at 9:30.

Does anyone know what is wrong with Munoz and why she didnt play. They said she was hurt, but I didnt catch what she hurt and when she might be bac,

The morning paper said she has a foot injury but did not elaborate...

how is that the NCAA allowed for the lower seed to be the host for the first two rounds??? I was always under the impression that the top four seeds in each region of the women's tournament were the hosts???

Seeing that #4 seed Penn State lost their first round matchup with #13 Liberty, I would venture to say that there is still some chance for an upset.

However, your point is obviously valid, seeing that this is only the fourth time ever that a #13 has beaten a #4 in the women's tournament.

The OSU women just dispached Maryland 75 - 65. Next up is Rutgers who we have already "soundly thrashed" back in January by a lopsided sore of 52 -50 in Columbus. At least we get to play Rutgers at a nuetral site.

Well it looks like Liberty is a good team they knocked off 5 seed Depaul tonite. We will see what they are made of in the next round against LSU.

Now to the lady bucks. They were a little sluggish at the beginning when Davenport couldnt get her shots, but they hung tough and the 3 by Ashley Allen b4 halftime was huge. They came out in the second half on fire. This team really plays well in the second half which is a good thing in the tourney, to close out games.

We had 4 players in double digits with Matter, Hoskins, Davenport, and the other big girl(name?).

They played really well. They have a tough game coming up against Rutgers. They have already beat Them once and they should be able to take it to them, if they play like they did in the second half.

Here is the write up from Yahoo Sports.

(2) Ohio St. 75, (7) Maryland 65Preview - Box Score - Recap
By DAVID GINSBURG, AP Sports Writer
March 22, 2005

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Ohio State's balanced attack and aggressive defensive was more than enough to overcome Maryland's home court advantage in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Brandie Hoskins scored 22 points, three other Buckeyes reached double figures, and Ohio State advanced to the round of 16 for the first time since 1993 with a 75-65 victory Tuesday night.

Jessica Davenport had 15 points and nine rebounds, Caity Matter scored 16 points and Stephanie Blanton added 12 for the second-seeded Buckeyes, who limited the Terrapins to 31 points after halftime.

Ohio State (30-4) will face third-seeded Rutgers on Sunday in the Philadelphia Regional semifinals. Rutgers beat Temple 61-54 on Tuesday night in Storrs, Conn.

Crystal Langhorne had 22 points and 16 rebounds for the seventh-seeded Terrapins (22-10), who were trying to win their first second-round NCAA tournament game since 1992. It was Langhorne's 18th double-double of the season, tying the school record set by Vicky Bullett in 1987-88.

Ahead 58-53, the Buckeyes used a 9-3 spurt to go up 67-56 with just over 3 minutes left. Matter scored seven points in the run, capping it with a 3-pointer that all but assured victory.

Maryland made only four baskets in the final 9:42, two of them in the final 40 seconds. Leading scorer Shay Doron finished with only nine points on 3-for-15 shooting.

The Terrapins were 13-3 at the Comcast Center, but playing at home and in front of a partisan crowd wasn't enough to overcome Ohio State's speed and tenacious defense.

The second half featured eight lead changes before Matter hit a 3-pointer, Hoskins scored on a drive and Blanton sank a shot from beyond the arc to put the Buckeyes up 53-46 with 14:10 left.

At that point, Ohio State was 7-for-8 from the field in the second half. The Buckeyes missed their next four shots, and after Maryland closed to 53-50, Ashley Allen made a 3-pointer and Hoskins added a layup to give OSU an eight-point cushion.

Davenport then went to the bench with three fouls, and the 6-3 Langhorne went to work. She scored inside, grabbed a rebound on the other end and made a free throw to bring the Terrapins to 58-53.

They would get no closer. The Buckeyes took a 35-34 halftime lead on a 3-pointer by Allen, her only points of the half. Davenport and Langhorne dueled for all 20 minutes; Davenport had 10 points and Langhorne had 10 points and nine rebounds. Ohio State improved to 28-1 when leading at the half.
