Buckeye Hero
The Peoples Champion
Oh, its definately an ongoing process, and its difficult to determine what should be a permenant fixture in your Buckeye room.
Some of the items have personal value and some have actual monetary value.
I too am just starting out on assembling my collection, so far I have:
My Ohio State flag, which has now been framed. This flag has been hanging on my wall since I was about 15 years old (Im 30 now) and flown outside my residence on every game day. No monetary value, but its been with me forever.
A Woody Hayes signed football, its a nice one with 2 white panels (that has the signature) and an Ohio State emblem.
A Archie Griffin signed football, same set up.
A 1920 Makio (Ohio State yearbook). Its cool because it old...and because it has a huge section on Chic Harley, and because it has a great section on the proposal for building Ohio Stadium with lots of drawings.
A project that I did for my brother was to make him framed pictures and cut autographs of every player that has won a heisman at OSU and every coach that has won a championship at OSU. Paul Brown, Woody Hayes, Jim Tressel, Les Horvath, Vic Janowicz, Hop Cassady, Archie, Eddie, Troy. All with Black frames, Gray matting with a scarlet mat over top. And the cut autographs are each centered underneath the picture. It really is the coolest piece of OSU memorabillia that I have ever seen.
On my Buckeye room wish list is:
A Paul Brown coaching tree and a Woody Hayes coaching tree. They would be HUGE, but it would be awesome to be able to show the incluence that these coaches had on the game. The Brown tree would basically have every coach ever in the NFL; the Walsh tree, the Noll tree, the Shula tree, ect.The Hayes tree would have the best of college footballs current coaches; Meyer, Saban, Bo, Miles, Holtz, Parsegian, ect.
And my holy grail would be a Chic Harley autograph, I have only ever seen one but the search is constantly ongoing. I will have that signature someday.
