Buckeye References on the Screen

JohnnyCockfight

Beer is God's proof that he loves us.
I was just watching SWAT on dvd, and heard a reference to a Buckeye that went down like this:

After Samuel L. Jackson lays out a fleeing criminal:
bystander kid: "man, that looked like some...Oakland Raider Jack Tatum accident."
Samuel L.: "what you know about Jack Tatum, get out of here."

***

The others I can recall:

There are 2 movies where Keaunu Reeves' character is a former star QB from Ohio State: Point Break & the Replacements.

I think I also remember seeing a commercial for Crank Yankers (sp?) where there's a picture of the Big Kat playing for OSU hanging on a wall in the background.

***

Does anyone know of any other Buckeye references on film or TV? (sorry if this is in the wrong forum)

The Crank Yankers one is true. The black guy has an Archie Griffin poster in the background. I didn't think Keaunu Reeves played a QB from OSU though.

There was a show on Fox a while ago called "The American Embassy" (it didn't last long) and the main character had graduated from OSU and wore some t-shirts on camera.

Also, I think there was a reference WAY back on ER- a Dr. had gone to OSU.

Recent shows like "Drew Carey" and "3rd Rock From the Sun" took place in Ohio- any references there?

Yes, Reeve's plays an Ex-OSU QB in both movies. In fact, I just saw part of "Point Break" last night. Keaunu plays FBI agent Johnny Utah, ex-OSU quarterback who left football because of a knee injury.

I can't recall the character from the Replacement (saw the movie once, have been trying to forget it ever since), but again, ex-OSU quarterback.

There was an OSU reference on West Wing. Charlie brings in a kid he knows to see the White House. I think the kid was smart, but did not work enough in the classroom and Charlie was trying to help him out. Anyways, the kid was an OL recruit for OSU. There was a funny scene where Josh comes racing around the corner, walks right into the kid and Josh falls down. The kid is just standing there like a fly flew into him.

Not OSU related, but the people from Eurotrip graduated from Hudson High School in Ohio. Also the movie Senior Trip back in the 90's was about a Columbus High School. I think my dad said they filmed part of it in Bexley. The Shawshank Redemption was filmed in Mansfield and the surrounding area.

There is an older movie with Robert Duvall in it and it dealt with racial issues down in the south within his family. But the Young adult in the movie went to Ohio State to play football but I think got hurt. The movie might have been a true story also.

Little off topic but I remember reading that during the filming of The Replacements, Keanu got a call about trying out for the Ravens. I will admit he had a pretty decent delivery in that movie, but I was surprised that someone was actually interested in him coming to camp...
