I know if I were an opposing Offensive Coordinator, I would instruct my receivers to run fly patterns any time Ginn is covering you man to man. Make him run as far as possible as often as possible. At least it might start to tire him out and make him a little less dangerous on offense. (I would also instruct my QB to NEVER - UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES throw the ball to that particular receiver.)

I admit again that I didn't watch much of ohio state last year, but how much time did Ginn get at CB last year? Was he a stud DB in HS, both ways?

Also, where do you guys see him playing in the League?

He was defensive player of the year by most everyone...as well as defensive MVP in the army all american game. Basically, just think of the offensive awards Adrian Peterson received and Ginn got a lot of the defensive equivalents. He didn't play WR in HS his last couple of years, I believe he spent a year at QB his senior year though...he didn't play DB at all here last year, which was odd considering he was the #1 DB in the country and was so well decorated out of HS :)

Honestly I haven't seen him on defense much, but I can see him in the NFL as a DB/KR

Tressel has made it quite clear taht Ginn at corner is not just a myth. For those of you talking about fly routes, red zone fly routes don't exactly tire out DBs (remember that he's plaing in the red zone). Also, Tressel has talked about how Gamble didn't start going both ways full time until later in the season once it cooled down.

I've always wondered whether he has some future at corner in the pros if he is anywhere near as talented as advertised. I don't want to wear him out, but wonder if he shouldn't at least be getting some reps in practice at corner. The only bad thing I see is that ou can destroy Ginn easier on D on a block if he's at corner, or blindside him with a clip (wich at worst gets you a 15 yard penalty, which to opponents would be worth it if he's injured fo rthe game).

Saw this in the CBus Dispatch as well. I thought you had to wait til after the 4th season (5th if you had used a regular RS) to apply for a medical, but that is obviously not the case. Sounds like MD is a serious question mark for Texas, but could be an AA candidate if he comes back next year.

Maybe you can apply ahead of time to expedite the process, and not hear back until after the 4th.

JWins: Good point about waiting until the weather cools down. I hadn't thought about that, but you're exactly right.

Basically, he was a CB by trade when he got here. We had no open corner slots to put him last year, so he started returning punts and playing WR; a position he'd never played. After half a season, he is listed among many All-American teams at the position.

To summerize: the kid is special, plain and simple.

JWins, you put a spotlight on my concern. I am afraid that if you put Ginn on defense, the chances are much higher that he gets injured through dirty play. Scares me.

I know. It is incredibly stupid to get rid of those 3 extra days for freshman. That gives position coaches a few days to work with the few freshmen that come in to help catch them up with the upperclassmen. I couldn't imagine if our whole team had started on the same day when I went to college. I probably learned more in those 3 days than any other 3 day period of my life. How is a position coach going to spend time with the freshmen when he has to get the starters ready for the first game? On the other hand I do wish that they had the rule about not having 2-a-days on consecutive days when I was in college. We had 2 practices every day of the week except for weekends when we had scrimages on Saturday and one practice on Sunday. That's just because I'm lazy though. :p
