not sure if this has been discussed previously...

But with the popularity of the iPhone and other smart phones... A mobile version of bp would be great... I know I browse the net a lot on my train commute to work, and an easy way to view bp would be nice. I know there are a few mobile vbulletin themes and a mobile browser detection mod... If this could be an option, I'd volunteer my time to help

I wish, but to be Honest, Clarity is putting everything he can into here, and asking for more isn't really fair. Mobile sites are basically completely different versions, and even if you look at ESPN mobile, you'll notice that the forums are completely jacked. BP is nothing but a forum, our information is based on our user input, guys here make it a point to post everything they find to the correct thread and thus, BP thrives. Even our news articles are nothing more than forum threads, so for a "BP Mobile" version, it would be tough, we have a 15 posts per page limit, in a mobile version that would be about 75 pages :(

What phone are you using?

Opera Mini displays BP quite well on my blackberry (vs that hideous included browser). Though a few months ago it started having trouble with links on BP, they would just refresh the page the first 3-7 clicks, but it eventually would go through.

My LG voyager has a full html browser, so I figure the I-phone has to as well. I was hoping the whole mobile site thing would fade away.

We are adding a mobile-friendly style. Whether or not that will be auto-enabled by conditional detection is another question. I don't have an ETA but it is on my pre-season list.

I've fighting with some cookie/session issues related to new front-end software we're going to be using, and Deety's been wrestling with changes to our navbar. As soon as these two issues are wrapped up, I've got to fix torrents, and get us flowing on XCache -- then this issue is actually towards the top of the list (not that it means much that it is until I actually get to it.)

Anyway, I'll post more info here when I have it. Mobile support is something we've taken shots at over the years, and it's never quite been right. I think the pieces are in place to do it well now, but won't know for sure until I'm plugging it in.

thanks for the info... the site does display well on the iphone, but its not ideal... i just had the thought on my commute home.

here is a pretty good thread on the vbulletin forums discussing this with a theme that some user submitted with the source that can be customized, if it is any help. as ocbf stated, it would be limited functionality, but you would still get the forums.

I'm on a ATT 8525 WinHELL mobile with full html support. I also often find myself hitting BP on the phone. The content here is good enough to suffer through the interface on tiny little screen.

I understand the issue of not enough time to get to all the requests. I'll be happy to help out with this if you are intereseted.
