You ask, we answer. Sometimes we ask, others answer. And then other times, we ask, we answer.

Throughout the
Ohio State football season, we will be asking and answering questions about the team, college football, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.

After a week off, it is finally Ohio State game day once again. At 12 noon ET, the No. 3 Buckeyes will host the Marshall Thundering Herd at Ohio Stadium as Fox’s Big Noon game of the week. That will bring with it all of the pomp and circumstances of the “Big Noon Kickoff” traveling circus.

But before the pregame show comes to town, earlier this week, we asked Buckeye fans a couple of questions in our weekly fan survey. The first was about the oddity of having a week off following just two games, and the second was our standard game-week question about what they thought the eventual margin of victory would be.

You can check out the collective responses below, and if you want to share your agreement (or disagreement), feel free to do so in the comments at the bottom of the page. You can also sign up to be a part of LGHL and SBNations’ weekly Reacts surveys here.

Question 1: What are your feelings on having a bye in Week 3?

I agree with the plurality here. I didn’t have a violent reaction to being off last week, but it was certainly an unwelcome scheduling development. It felt unnatural to have played two games and then have to take a step back so everyone else could play Week 3.

I recognize that there will be extra byes with the College Football Playoff, and Week 0 might eventually become Week 1, and I’m good with that. It ultimately gives players a chance to heal and recuperate, which allows them to maintain their health and for their teams to play better. So, having multiple byes is a net positive... but just don’t give teams weeks off so early.

It’s already difficult to build momentum in a season when, in theory, you replace a quarter to a third of your roster every season. Having early-season starts and stops doesn’t help matters. I would have preferred to see the Buckeyes’ first off week come after Michigan State so that could rest and prepare for two weeks before heading to Eugene to play Oregon, but they’ll have to play with the hand they’ve been dealt.

Question 2: What will the margin of victory be in Saturday’s game against Marshall?

I went on record earlier this morning in our LGHL predictions article and the “Tailgate” podcast (listen and subscribe below) predicting the Buckeyes to win 52-3. The Scarlet and Gray are currently favored by 39.5 points with a point total target of 52.5. That means that Vegas is projecting a final score in the neighborhood of 47-6. ESPN’s Bill Connelly’s SP+ projects the Buckeyes to win 45-4, which is an odd score, but falls in line with the bookmakers.

Ninty-two percent of Buckeye fan respondents are predicting a blowout of 31 or more points, which would mean that the week off didn’t hurt Ryan Day’s squad at all. It would also be nice to see OSU be able to rebuild its momentum heading into East Lansing and Big Ten play next week.
