Buckeye Fans, you have one day in C-Bus...

How would you spend it?

I am on my way up from Houston (think Tom Petty, "you don't have to live like a refugee...") and need some advice. I'll be in town Saturday only.

and in return I'll give you a preview for Austin, just save it for one year and you are great:

For $: Breakfast at Kerbey Lane on Kerbey Lane, Pancakes and Queso, don't ask, just eat (and the pancakes shld. be a tall stack, blueberry, buttermilk and ginger bread.)

Lunch a Texadelphia on the drag then go check out the Drag, The Union and the Tower... then go to Scholz's, then the game and then back to Sholz's. Visiting fans are always welcome at Scholz's. No dinner, drink beer at Scholz's.

For $$: Breakfast at Chez Z, have the french toast. Then go to the lake and hang out, have a beer or a town lake Iced tea at Hula-Hut and stay there till lunch. Then go wander around campus for a while, see the tower the Ransom Center and the Six Pack. Then Scholz's then the game. Post game Z-Tejas or Threadgill's.

Feel free to substitute Maudies or Trudy's for any of the lunch or dinner stops... Have the Mex-Mart at Trudy's!!

So now tell me what the plan is for C-bus! I'd like a beer or two, a decent meal and I do not want to go anyplace where hillbillies will stare at me with lust in their hearts (Dixie Chicken in College Station, Tx). If I can torch a couch that is bonus points... Also it is about 98 degrees here and will be till about November. Someone told me about something y'all call seasons? So does my girlfriend need to bring a jacket or long sleeved shirt to the game?

Thanks much, see you Saturday...

I would say definately. Have you ever heard the Foxworthy joke: "you know you're from Ohio if you have to use the heater and air conditioner in the same day" ? It's true, I'm freezing my ass off right now but it will probably be 80 later today (not hot by your standards I'm sure). Once the sun goes down it gets pretty cold.

Bring shorts and a tee for the afternoon and jeans and a jacket for the evening. The temp will likely feel like it's in the 90s while your walking around on the asphalt, and it'll drop into the low 60s by the 3rd quarter, it'll feel even colder in C-Deck if there's a good breeze Saturday night.

I'd suggest getting a parking spot early, find your way to the 'Shoe and enjoy the tailgate and strike up some conversations. There will be plenty of trouble to get into on Lane Ave and the numerous on campus establishments around the stadium. Just make certain your parked and ready to walk early. I'd hate for any Texas fans to make the trip, then get stuck on SR-315 for an hour in a line that's not moving because of the closed off-ramps near the stadium and wind up missing the 1st quarter. The later you are at getting a start to the stadium, the more late you will be come game time as the parking lots fill up and you're stuck parking 2-miles from the stadium and making the hike.

Ideally, have your ticket in hand and find your way to St. John Arena across from the Shoe about 2 to 2-1/2 hours before kickoff for "Skull Session," the OSU Marching Band pep rally. It's a huge part of the gameday atmosphere. I would expect Texas' marching band will be invited to perform at Skull Session too. Admission is free, just show your game ticket at the door. You'll have another half hour to enjoy outside the stadium before you will want to start finding your seat. The OSU-MB will take the field about 20 minutes before kickoff, and that's a big part of the gameday tradition as well.
