I just got back from Quinn's free autograph event at the Piqua Miami Valley Center Mall (also went to Gonzo's yesterday: $10 per sig.) I thought both shows were handled very well. They had two separate "check points" where they call your ticket #s to line up and checked you there (say they called tix 1 - 50)...then they sent 10 to 15 people at a time over to the autograph table and checked your tickets again before letting you in line to get an autograph. I saw several people told to get out of line because they were trying to "cut" with the wrong ticket numbers...essentially jump ahead of others who got there earlier to secure lower ticket numbers. I was very happy they kept things fair.

By the way, I was in the top 50 for Gonzo, but near 250 for Pitcock, so it worked both ways for us. :wink2:

While I was in line for Pitcock today, the Piqua Mall's promotions Manager told me that she did talk to someone representing Troy...but that they wanted $40,000 for a 2 hour commitment :yow1: . Needless to say that the Miami Valley Center decided they could not afford to bring in Troy Smith for an event .

A couple of the show vendors told me that they heard the Tri-Sar deal did go through for Troy and that they were going to be getting $100 per autograph for him...even though there was one vendor who had 3 different T.S. pics signed asking $50 each (he said he has a niece that goes to OSU).

Anyway, take it for what it's worth (the latest hearsay from Piqua, OH)...I guess we'll all find out soon enough, when he actually does a show somewhere. :)

Also was at the Piqua signing today and I agree, it was very well run. Loved the ticket process. It allowed you to walk around after you received your tickets so you were not stuck in the line.

On the Troy front, man are there some different rumors flowing around. Talked to the promoter at D&D Sports and he has been in talks with Troy's reps this past week. He seems to think he is very close to landing him and is hoping thatsuccessfully doing the Ginn signings this weekend will only help him out. He is under the impression that the Tri-Star deal DID NOT go through.

Just more rumor's to the mill.

As Padraig stated, the truth behind will be known soon enough.

We apologize for the high prices.

On future appearences:
We are currently working on 3 other store appearances with Smith, which include the Dayton and Columbus areas. Please continue to check out our In-Store Events page for updates.

Got to say, I am quite disappointed in this. Prices in the Eddie range was expected, but this is out of sight!!! As one with a Authenthic Nike Jersey I'd like to have signed, not sure if the 140 will be paid to do it now....

Anyone who pays these prices is an idiot.

I disagree. If you have that kind of disposable income and that's what you choose to spend it on, I have no issue with it. That said, I won't be spending that kind of money for Troy's sig, but I might if I was still a single working guy (when I could afford such prices).

I wish Troy's autograph was a bit more reasonable (according to my own budget, that is) as well, but he worked hard to be in the position he is, so I don't blame him for making what he can off his name. And that also means if he ends up limiting his appearances because of his chosen price tag, then so be it...that's his perogotive (sp?) too.

exactly.

something else for everybody to consider is the current price for reigning heisman winners. i know eddie is lower, but he is also nowhere near the level of popularity he once had. Troy is right in line (and is actually less for an 8x10) with reggie bush and matt leinart.

Actually, this is much higher than the $39-$69-$99 price tier that Cardboard Heroes charged for Eddie's signature. I'm sorry to say that I won't be in attendance at this signing. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a small number of people in attendance at this signing--the prices are just way too high for a lot of people.
