There seems to be an ad or some related code in rotation that is causing browser lockups in both MSIE and Firefox. I'm actively looking into this, and have sent emails to SW asking what the hell is going on.

If you're running into periodic "not responding" errors today where you have to close and restart the browser, please let me know here -- and if there are any details you can provide, that would be helpful.

Also, if that's the case, and you have a few moments, please load the following page by itself a number, and see if the same thing happens with nothing but the ad:

http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/sportswar-banner.html

Sorry about the problems today, not sure what's causing them, but we'll get it figured out.

How often would you say it happens? 1 in every X page loads, for example. If it's more than 1 in 10, would you try hitting that link above (it loads a single banner with nothing else) and see if you can replicate the lock-ups that way? If it's less frequent than 1 in 10, then it's possible that our problems today were one thing, and what you've been suffering is another.

Mine just locks up everything maybe twice a day but it just started doing it a couple days ago. I can't even do a screen capture usually but sometimes it is just very slow . ie. five minutes to change.

Sorry but I'm leaving now to go to Marion for an xmas party

Well, that one sort of needed some hygienic readjustment, so it might be valid. :p

Those tend to be spyware rather than anything sneaking in from ads, but it's good to check anyway. Goes without saying (never stopped me) that it's a bad idea to click those anti-virus ads.

I browse a lot of serial/warez type places for random progs I download. Usually, if I come across a site that is a suspected attacker site, instead of clicking yes or not I'll just hit control, alt, delete, and close the browser. Some of the spyware sites will install spyware regardless if you click "yes or no". They won't if you exit the browser all together. If you are using firefox be sure not to click "restore session".

No, there shouldn't be any spyware related to our ads. Shouldn't be any pop-ups or redirects at all, though occasionally we get pop-ups that are okay'd for other sites but against our agreement, and those are removed on request. But sometimes, if you have other spyware from wherever, it can still trigger things on a clean site.

Not sure what SportsWar is working on now, but it seems unlikely to be a spyware issue.
