Exactly, exactly. His enthusiasm is amazingly genuine, you can tell he loves to call a game. Unlike a lot of guys like Keith Jackson who sound like they just wanna get outta the booth asap.MililaniBuckeye said:I used to hate him (used to call hum Mushbooger), but after having him call so many of our games in our 2002 NC season, and with the immortal "Holy Buckeye!" call, I now want him over everyone else to call our games.
Obviously talking about a different level here (I don't know if he's ever called a game of any significance), and maybe I'm a homer for picking this one out, but I actually think Spielman calls a pretty good game.souL said:Everyone always "hates" all the announcers, who does anyone actually like?
My theory stems from announcers trying to be as unbiased as they can be (it's tough for them sometimes). Analysts and color guys (girls?) try to make unbiased observations about a game, and then when a fan of another team hears someone say something less than positive (negative?) about their team and all of the sudden that guy's anti-Team X.zincfinger said:Obviously talking about a different level here (I don't know if he's ever called a game of any significance), and maybe I'm a homer for picking this one out, but I actually think Spielman calls a pretty good game.
I thought that he was always gunning for us to lose in 2002 so he could get his dream match up of Choklahoma and Miami. He always talked about how well these two teams matched up. I also think he has a thing for meatchicken.slobberknocker said:I've always thought he had a pac10 lean and meatchicken just m/o
Maybe im wrong I dont know, that was just the impression i got.Sloopy45 said:slobberknocker: "I've always thought he had a pac10 lean and meatchicken just m/o"

???? You guys must be listening to different games than I am. Brent wanted us to lose in '02??? A Pac 10 lean??? A scUM fan? Are either of you one of Tibor's aliases, by any chance?
Slobber, you do know that Brent went to a Big Ten school, right?
slickman: "I always think Griese is juiced and today's game being 3:30, he should be in fine form."
Griese sucks. Listening to a game with him is like watching grass grow. The only consolation I get when I hear that Griese is calling the game is that at least "My Son Brian" isn't quarterbacking it.
Buck87: "I wish Keels had half his excitement."
Keels could read you the Great Gatsby, or call a Buckeye game and you'd never know the difference.
Hahahahaha!!!! Now I hope she's not doing the Northwestern game! I'll be at the game...but I don't want to have to mute the tape when I watch it.sears3820 said:For my $, it just doesn't get much better than Pam Ward.
That's how I felt. 2002 made Brent a Buckeye fan. He deserved to do the Fiesta Bowl that year so bad. I'm sure he wanted to...but I don't know much about the politics of anouncing. I just know that Keith sucked. Dan wasn't much better.MililaniBuckeye said:I used to hate him (used to call hum Mushbooger), but after having him call so many of our games in our 2002 NC season, and with the immortal "Holy Buckeye!" call, I now want him over everyone else to call our games.
