Braylon Edwards (official drop thread)

They had one in Defiance OH also when I lived in NW Ohio. It was in the mall, the Ohio State Michigan store.. have the store was Ohio State and the Other was Michigan.. split right down the middle..

In fact, that was what their TV commercials were based on.. a Michigan fan reaching across "the line" for an Ohio State something and an alarm going off... it was actually pretty funny.

I have to say I go to Ohio State and I grew up being obssessed with Ohio State and being a Cleveland fan. I know a lot of people here at school that are from Cinci and they all have attitudes towards Cleveland. For one thing saying browns fans and Ohio State fans usually happen to be the same people, is no rip on Cinci. The only reason he's saying this is because Edwards got drafted by the browns. Not the bengals. If he would have gotten drafted by them these Ohio-Michigan talk would still be happening. One thing I have learned about "the nati" is everyone there thinks they have the best sports teams in the nation. They all hate the Browns and the Indians. It seems retarted to me because as far as baseball goes, the Indians and the Reds barely play each other. They're not even in the same league. I don't care about the Reds. But everyone from Cinci hates the Indians. It's just the mindset down there. Same for the Bengals. They haven't had a winning record in 13 seasons..not that the Browns have been much better but the point is I don't care about Cinci teams. But they all seem to hate Cleveland. It's the attitude.

Here's my (irrelevant) 10 cents... I think the "WHO DEY" cheer is extremely obnoxious. Who Dey think gonna beat dem Bengals? Let's see, pretty much everyone in the league.

The funny thing is- I actually hope the Bengals do good year in and year out, along with the Browns. Go Ohio. But being cocky when you have no reason to be (ala Notre Dame) is obnoxious. Show me something on the field, then you can be cocky bastards all you want.

Oh yeah, and if anyone who read this doesn't know what the "Who Dey" cheer is, consider yourself lucky.

---bingo! they seem to think anything not cincy/kentucky is inferior.---

Sorry, no. We just don't bow down to the "great" Cleveland area and kiss Clevelands ass. Cincinnati has it's own identity that is awesome and Cleveland can't stand that there is another great city in this state. If saying Cincinnati doesn't want to be in Ohio is all Cleveland can come up with as to why Cincy sucks, well, more power to you. After river fires, the movie Major League, etc, I would just shut up.

I'm not from Cleveland, but still am from NE Ohio (Youngstown) and have been a Cleveland fan all my life, yet routed for Cincinnati whenever they aren't playing a Cleveland team. However, if all you can come up with is "the movie Major League" (dude, it was a fucking movie) and pollution of the Cuyahoga which has been cleaned up for years and years as a retort, then maybe Cincy isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Any town nicknamed the "Queen" City doesn't have a whole lot to chest-thump about.

Well when your original nick name was "porkopolis," Queen City is an upgrade. Still doesn't change the fact that the entire north east section of Ohio is a trash dump. Dude people from New Jersey talk shit about Cleveland.

Needless to say both cities have many positive attributes. However the only one that I can think of right now is that the Ohio State football team has won at least one game in each city.

The move "Major League" isn't representative of Cleveland just like the show "WKRP in Cincinnati" doesn't represent Cincinnati. They were both fictional comedies. Actually I really like both (Major League and WKRP) and always thought that they helped put the respective city "on the map".

*shrug* been here for 8 years now and have only been to cleveland once so i can't weigh in on a cincy vrs cleveland debate. but i definitely don't see cincy the same way you do. i think id substitute flaky and superficial with awesome :tongue2: .

don't get me wrong, i don't hate cincy. some parts are ok. but the people here seem... "off". definitely haven't discovered the "awesome" side of cincy's identity you elude to.

what was the whole purpose of this post again? :p oh yeah! braylon is going to do well in the nfl. as much as i dislike him for having played for scum, its hard to deny his talent. i mean seriously, the guy single handedly turned a true freshman qb into a potential heisman candidate...

Newsflash: Cleveland could care less about Cincinnati. Why it's a big competition to you guys is beyond me. Just kinda adds to the arrogance in my opinion. Maybe it's Cincinnati who has a problem with other cities in Ohio. I've lived in Northeast Ohio my entire life and haven't heard one person talking trash about Cincinnati. I move to Ohio State and constantly, constantly I hear kids from Cincinnati talking trash about other areas of Ohio, especially Cleveland. So where ever you got this idea that it's some big "competition" between the two cities is a purely Cincinnati phenomenon.

And about the original topic of this post, who cares, this new one is more interesting anyways.

Has anyone else noticed that the further south you go, the bigger hard-on they have against whatever is up north? Cincy has always had an inferiority complex with just about every other city in Ohio, and Southern states are the same way with Norhtern states. I wonder why that is.

It's interesting to hear the various comments on this thread.First on Edwards,as an OSU fan and Browns fan,he reminds me of Leon in the commercials. He a walking, talking, marketing machine. When you spend that kind of money on a car and wear an excessive amount of jewelry BEFORE the draft, what does that say about your image. Not exactly a blue collar image is it.The thing that scares me about Edwards,in a football sense,is the word Quincy Morgan. He looks a lot like him,in a physical way,and had the same problems in college, dropping a lot of easy passes. In regards to Winslow,I hated the fact that they drafted him,HOWEVER,I was wrong. The guy was a hard worker and had zero attitude,in regards to football. In fact, the guy not only played on special teams,he was very good at it and took pride in how he played. And no off field issues with him, nothing, zero, nada.

In regards to the Cincy thing,a lot of it has to do with "perception" over reality.OSU didn't recruit well in that area, why I don't know,so it "appeared" that there was some problem, when it was just poor recruiting,IMO.I think there is some definite "friction" concerning the basketball programs.I think it started way back in the final four days between the schools. It was then kept alive by Huggins(which I can't stand)and "do-rag" university, the thug image that he projects.

The media in Cleveland is sad.I can't think of any beat writers that are quality writers, not one.I don't know what happened to Hooley when he was a student at OSU,but I suspect some football player must have either stolen his girl friend or beaten him to a pulp, for him to have such negative slant on OSU.The part that makes me mad is that after he bashes OSU,he writes books on OSU and people buy them,a true mystery that anyone would want to spend money to support him.
