I doubt it. They got intercepted b/c they were down to their last play. It was a pretty good shot, but Allen read it perfectly. The crowd wasn't even that loud before the snap...most of us were way too nervous...

Have you ever been to the Browns stadium? I wouldn't call that place a dump by any means, only uninformed opinions would call it a dump.

Don't mean to interrupt an argument, but Herbstreit definately wasn't very clear with his line about a buckeye being a brownies fan. That made me want to puke. That really pissed me off. It was a backward slam at Cincy sports fans and that attitude is why we occasionally lose good player from places like Colerain. Portraying that Cincy isn't part of some special little "brotherhood." Fuck him and the brownies!

There I'm done with my rant.

I would say it was an unfair slam if I'd ever read anything that wasn't anti-OSU written by the Cincinnati media. He said it was a weird trend that people in columbus/cleveland like OSU/browns and people in cinci hate both. I'd say that's a pretty true statement. There are obviously exceptions to the rule, just like there are plenty that don't like OSU that live in Columbus.

This is pretty blunt, and he doesn't leave himself much wiggle room:

Like I said, he didn't explain what we all knew he meant very well, but it's that bullshit attitude that creates the problem with Cincy in the first place. Cleveland somehow has this Ohio State "superfan" moniker whereas if you are a Buckeye fan from Cincy it's more like, "what you mean you aren't a UK or UC fan?" Last I checked we are all from OHIO.

Ok, seriously, my morning rant is over now. It's been a long nite, I hope I didn't piss anyone off too bad. :)

Hopefully not, I'm an outsider so that's the perception I've formed from what I've seen of the little rivalry. Maybe if there were fewer Tibor's that represent Cincinnati's fanbase the perception would be different (yes I realize Tibor doesn't live in cincy).

I thought it was interesting that Herbie mentioned that. The whole article was a good read - thanks for posting. I generally agree with the Cinci/Cleveland comparison, but I would add that the Cleveland press (or at least the plain dealer) also is anti-ohio state, while in Cincinnati it seems to be more the fanbase (I don't read a lot of Ohio State articles from there either for or against, maybe I just don't see them). Maybe that is because Cincinnati feels it has its own college teams, while Cleveland doesn't. . .

Maybe Edwards was just sucking up to us Ohio kids, but I have to admit it worked on me. I liked him in the article. I guess flattery works well. :)

One thing I do know, my Finacee works for a congressman from Cincinnati and every single person in the office (all but her are from the 'nati) HATES Ohio State, not dislike but hates... same thing holds true in the district office.

Sure, it is unfair to ever make any sort of stereotype, but when looking at a macro level it is pretty true

Cincinnati gets what it deserves. The city is more concerned with being the capital of Tri-State than being a part of Ohio. They've yet to figure out that Tri-State is mythical and has no tax raising revenue and they continue to pay the price while state tax dollars go to Columbus and Cleveland. The newspaper features Notre Dame in the fall and Kentucky during b-ball season. They didn't "discover" the Buckeyes until the day after the 03 Fiesta Bowl.

I don't know why Herbie's Cinci comment is getting any attention?

1) I've worked in both Cinci and Cleveland, and I can say that that statement is generally true.
2) Yes, there are exceptions ... Herbie himself is a lifetime devotee of the Reds and the Bengals.
