I love that he is from Ohio.
I would love to experience something like the 10 year war in my lifetime.

It wasn?t a betrayal of biblical measurement. Brady Hoke?s clandestine decision to leave San Diego State after two years to accept the head football coaching position at the University of Michigan didn?t involve 30 pieces of silver. He was taking his ?dream job,? if offered.
But Hoke was not Knute Rockne. He did a wonderful job turning around a moribund, stagnated Aztecs program, but he bolts for Michigan with an overall losing record as a head coach at SDSU and Ball State. At the helm here, he defeated two teams with winning records, both service academies.
All of which adds to the mystery of this serpentine caravan. Because other than being a former Wolverines assistant ? thus fulfilling the ritualistic ?Michigan Man? requirements ? Hoke, a man who displayed the right philosophy and attitude, hasn?t done much to warrant the attention of the winningest college football program in history.

It?s doubtful anything will surpass the botched burlesque show directed by the Michigan pizza guy before he finally pulled a suddenly-hot Hoke out of SDSU?s oven. Wolverines Athletic Director Dave Brandon, former CEO of Domino?s Pizza, ran this process wearing clown shoes and blowing up balloon animals.
.
.
.
Maybe we?d know more if anyone involved at San Diego State ? AD Jim Sterk, primarily ? would come out of hiding. That agreement was going to include a $1.5 million buyout if Hoke were to leave before its expiration. Now it reverts to the previous number, $1 million, which means the cash-strapped state university is out $500,000 it could have pocketed.
Brandon has to pick up the $1 million buyout and pay the coach he fired, Rich Rodriguez, $2.5 million in parting gifts. Three years ago, Michigan paid West Virginia $2.5 million to buy out Rodriguez?s contract there. That?s $6 million before they give Hoke a dime, and this is a public university in a fiscally deprived state.

The key hire will be the DC. Good luck to whoever that is. You've got Mike Martin, who is a good player. And then there's ...... Did you know that Michigan played 20 bazillion freshmen last year, who all gained valuable experience?
Buckeye fans will have to prepare themselves for the 2012 recruiting season. Michigan will go into Ohio and get some solid players. There are just too many good players in that class, the Bucks can't take them all, and UM has so many defensive holes that playing early is a given. Yes, we will have to listen to how Hoke has taken Ohio by storm and their return to greatness is imminent. Funny how the key to their success is always built upon what they can get out of Ohio (that includes coaches).
Lots to watch for over the next months.
He's been really quiet, so I think you nailed it. My guess is he's laying in the fetal position somewhere clutching his stuffed duck.Palpie;1856554; said:So, any word from the Beav on the new coach? Or is he waiting to see how much access he gets to decide if Hoke is the right guy?
WolverineMike;1856538; said:Woolfolk will be back next year, so we'll have an upgrade in the secondary too.
Comparing this guy to Gus Malzahn is a bit, no, a lot extreme. He was a hot name a decade ago. His last "big job" at Auburn saw his offenses get worse each year before he was ultimately fired. I think he's a solid coach, much like Hoke, but he doesn't/won't strike fear in anyone. Give him the right players and I'm sure he can put together a solid offense. But he's working with the land of misfit toys right now.Diego-Bucks;1856616; said:I am of the opinion that, like Gus Malzahn to Gene Chizik, Al Borges will be the name Buckeyes actually fear, Hoke is merely the face to the program.
