Illinois is ranked #12 even though they received only two votes for #12 or higher.

Four teams from Texas made the poll - Texas, Texas A+M, Baylor, and Houston.

After losing to Wake Forest (!), consensus top-five preseason selection Florida State is now 2-3 on the year, and it looks like FSU has become the Notre Dame of the South - every year we hear stories about how they "are back", and every year they are out of contention by the first week of October. Since playing in the BCS title game after the 2000 season, the Seminoles are 86-49 on the field (.637 winning percentage) - and twelve of those wins were subsequently vacated - with a combined 7-13 record against in-state rivals Florida and Miami, and with no BCS bowl victories. And that's playing in the watered-down Atlantic Coast Conference. Maybe they can rebound against Duke this week.

Sparty getting a fair amount of love in the poll while Notre Dame is unranked. I hate ND like the next guy, but they handled Sparty pretty well. MSU-TSUN should provide more insight into this comparison.

I don't really think Penn State is a Top 25 team per se, but I couldn't find anyone I thought was more deserving of being there at the moment. I think Houston will run it at 13-0...I think that merits a ranking of about #18, but I do think it merits a ranking.

Looks to me like you hate Georgia Tech more. :wink2:
