I see a lot of posters giving scUM some love. The RR midget circus has yet to impress me. A couple of wins over directionals and one against NoD doesn't show me anything.

In explaining my previous ballots I argued that the transitive property is still in effect. Over the course of the season we all know it doesn't hold up, and I think we saw the start of that with last week's games.

  1. Florida
  2. Texas
  3. Alabama
  4. California - Are they talented enough to beat Minnesota by more than two TDs? Sure. A lot of people have pointed to them struggling when they come east though and thought they might drop this one. I was a bit impressed. Best is the top RB out there right now, no doubt. That can take you a long way.
  5. Miami (FL) - Their dismantling of Georgia Tech - and their discipline against the triple option - was one of the more impressive things that's taken place so far in this young season.
  6. USC - I can't under any circumstance rank USC below Ohio State unless USC drops a second one. People will say that they lost because they were beat up and unfocused, but even so this doesn't look like the same kind of Trojan team we're used to seeing. Maybe they'll grow into it, but they might drop that second one along the way.
  7. Ohio State - I don't like the idea of dropping a team after a blowout win. They moved down one spot on my ballot not because of ass-backwards SOS argument - but simply to accomodate the Hurricanes, who simply put have had a more impressive three weeks.
  8. Virginia Tech
  9. Ole Miss
  10. Penn State
  11. Oklahoma
  12. Louisiana State
  13. Cincinnati
  14. Auburn - a good win vs. a quality opponent moves them up.
  15. Florida State - Pounding BYU on the road and losing a close one to Miami far outweighs their close call vs. Jacksonville State. This is a good football team.
  16. Houston
  17. Texas Christian
  18. Kansas
  19. Oklahoma State - They haven't looked that good since beating Georgia...
  20. Georgia - ...Who hasn't looked that good in their own right since losing in Stillwater.
  21. Missouri
  22. Brigham Young - Got pounded - absolutely pounded. It was way worse than the scoreboard said. The Oklahoma win is barely keeping them on my ballot.
  23. Washington - Is this a good team or not. They have sucked for the better part of five years - there's plenty of reason to believe there's not much talent there. You could argue this is undeserved because they caught their two toughest opponents at their most vulnerable - USC (beat up after a big game, playing the backup QB, in their conference road opener) and LSU (SEC team actually leaving the south, and the Huskies didn't actually beat them) For now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.
  24. Clemson
  25. Central Michigan - Still have been more impressive than Boise State & M*ch*g*n so far.
