Just for the record, since the Wallace info has started some discussion on other boards, BP will always cite the proper source for information whether it be summarized updates or articles. However, we sometimes run into an issue with "inside" info as the posters do not always wish to be identified. Some posters, like H&G, do not mind sharing their info publicly. Then, there are various folks connected in one way or another, whether it be friends of the program or family members of recruits or players, who must stay anonymous for obvious reasons.

Yes, there are Buckeye players on BP. Yes, there are family members of Buckeye players on BP. Yes, there are recruits, coaches, and family members on BP.

This is why we ask you to think before you post and why we do not tolerate bashing.

This probably needed to be said a long time ago, but none of us really expected BP to explode the way it has in the past eighteen months.

As for the Wallace info, it was given to a few of the recruiting guys on this site days ago. The posters chose to remain anonymous and we will respect that wish. If they desire to come public with their info, they can do so when they choose.

If you choose to defend BP on other sites, please do so with respect to that site. The old "site wars" are old news...no need to rehash and no need to start another battle.

For anyone doubting this story, a few of us have the info PM saved...dated 12/9. Sorry that some folks have an issue with getting "scooped," but we are not here for glory or accolades...just sharing a common love with fellow Buckeye fans. Most insiders are smart enough to realize they are not the only person receiving "tidbits." However, in reality, recruiting is a web of info that branches out to various outlets.

Thanks for making BP the best community on the net.

I just have one thing to add, and it's probably not entirely helpful, but I can't resist.

Does anyone else draw a parallel here between an involved party, and that video clip of the "God Warrior" in Open Discussion?

No? Just me? Okay, thanks.

That's the one.

I'm not going to spend much time on this, as there are better things to turn my attention to, but I will say this. Contrary to the perceptions of some, we 'steal' nothing. Bucknuts alone has had some entirely valid concerns in the past with how we linked to, summarized or referenced information from them. What few people know, is that I personally spoke with and worked with Lee/Mr.B over there to find ways we could better respect BN's wants and needs related to their content, not just the letter and spirit of the related intellectual property laws as we already were.

So yes, in the past, even as we had 'drama' with Bnuts (and as grad as rightly pointed out, that's not just the past, it's the distant past), we were still communicating with them in a good-faith effort to be good neighbors.

I have dozens of emails stored away from people who have come to me with concerns about picture leeching, improper content posting, property concerns and so on within user posts within this site. Dozens is not bad over as many years as we've been online. Without exception, we have given every single one of these emails proper consideration, and without exception every single complaining party has come away pleased and appreciative with the actions taken.

Our goal at BP is for OSU fans to inform OSU fans. To do so as a collective/community effort. Our secondary goal is to supplement the active and respectable community -- BN, BSB, OZ, and the 'official' sites. We want to take nothing away from any of them. Likewise, we have no interest or intent to 'steal' from anyone.

In this case, Alan needs to learn that just because he's heard something, it doesn't mean that no one else has. I know how desperate (I should just leave it there) he is to have SOMETHING to offer, but the cheap eyeballs he'll get from this sort of stunt aren't going to translate to $49.95 (usually $77!) subscriptions. I'm sure he feels that drawing attention to himself on the 'majors' (BN and BP, in this case) might mean more exposure, and some last minute Christmas subscriptions to SGN/BII -- but he's as mistaken there as he was when he directed LloydSev to clone BP.

I know we're being pretty well beaten up at BN (edit: upon further review, not as much as I thought, and the one instigating reads a lot like Alan himself does, hmm), and that's cool, but everyone here would do best to just shrug that off. Some folks over there are still operating on perspectives they developed 2 or 3 years ago. If they haven't bothered to reconsider those perspectives that were unfair back then, and are tragically flawed now, then they're not going to in the heat of the moment in some thread here, there, or anywhere else.

To bother to address the specifics of this situation, I will say as a plain and simple absolute that 'we' had this information before it was posted anywhere on SGN. If anyone who knows me thinks I'd make that type of declarative statement as a casual or baseless point of defense, well, then they just don't know me. I always want to ask what people believe BP has to gain by 'stealing' information. We don't charge any money. We've spent far more than we've brought in via contributions over the years. Increased traffic doesn't help us. In fact, with it comes more headaches for the mods, more expenses and backend work for me, less of the 'family' atmosphere many of us value so much around here. We're driven by being "by and for Buckeyes", and not by the money (even if it's less than normally charged!) that we might be able to make whoring information. One truth about fan sites these days is that nearly everybody visits them. On BP, we have players, prospects, recruits, former recruits, certainly immediate family of all of the above, HS-level coaches, college-level assistant coaches, pro players, pro scouts, casual fans, non-casual fans ('nuts', I say almost entirely warmly), friends of all of the above, etc. I mean, 'collectively' we (like the other 'big' sites) have almost too much access. If anyone thinks that information about what we all pay so much attention to only gets to them and no one else, then they're deluded.

So to echo grad's points -- no need for drama here. Particularly not between BN and ourselves. There's a healthier relationship there than most know, as it should be. What's in the past is in the past. Doesn't mean any of it is forgotten, just means it doesn't stand in the way of how we work together now or going forward. As far as Alan. Eh. Who? <!-- I'll just leave it with an aside to an interested party; Marcus, reel your boy in, and get him back on the meds. Just call the $500 a loss, and move on. -->

I am sorry that Alan decided to start SGN in the way that he did and that his business plan doesn't seem to have met his early expectations. I don't bear him, LloydSev or anyone else there any ill will for starting SGN in the way that they did. They know who was in the wrong in that.

I don't engage in bashing Ohio State players or our fans and the guys at SGN are Buckeye fans.

That said, I don't visit SGN because I do not find what I am looking for in a Buckeye sports fan site. This is not about personalities or attitudes. I just don't find Alan's opinions very interesting or compelling to read. I don't like the feel of the place. I know that Alan thinks he has something valuable to say but, quite frankly, I'd rather read what a lot of posters here have to say. I find better analysis right here on BP with none of the flaming on some other sites.

I visit BP on a daily basis because I find a sense of community with other Buckeye fans and enjoy reading what just about everyone posts. I learn something every day.

I hope that Alan and the guys are not getting hurt financially with SGN. However, I don't think their business model has a chance of success. They haven't failed to recruit me because someone on BP snatched their content. They failed to recruit me because their opinions were no competition for the opinions and sense of community I get at BP.

BP rocks!:oh: :osu: :io:
