When the starter leaves before the minimum 5 innings, the "winning pitcher" is up to the official scorer (provided the lead is never relinquished). Kolarek gave up 4 runs in 1 inning, while Shultz pitched 2.2 of shutout ball and was awarded the win.

It actually is possible. I looked it up. Guillermo Mota did it back on July 3, 2004.

I’ll have to look it up again. My thought, though, was though Kolarek gave up 4, they then scored 5 after before another pitcher entered and he would get the win.

Still shows both, btw.

Without the win, the score is 8-6 this week. Not as terrible as 8-5.

I looked at the box score of the game and it only showed the win. How the fuck does a guy get a hold and a win? That doesn't make sense.

True. But entering the game with a 3 run lead, he should have only got the hold. You can have that hold, no problem there. It should have been a hold anyway. There lies the difference. Getting the win, when he entered with a lead already and a lead that was never surrendered back, gave us a tie in that category. I could have scored SIX!!!1!2! this week instead of 5. My team was going to be renamed to AssHolds but somebody already has it.
