(original post follows):
Very little data is in place, and it's first blush with little/no research. For example, the conference and overall records are sort of arbitrary values -- they may not even make sense mathematically. I've plugged in some names in the preseason all-B1G roster, but they're blind(ish) stabs and lack ht/wt and class data. The recruiting class rankings/highlight/holes filled should be cake for this group.

Anyone with the ability is welcome to edit my post and start plugging in info.

This data will accompany a couple conference articles in print at the national level (I'll have more information later -- or you can scroll down to the bottom of any of our pages to see with whom we're partnered), so (as we so often try to do) we need to do our best to set our own biases aside and give a good look at the conference for those who are less familiar.

Much appreciated. I'm up to my eyeballs in ETS work, but I'll let this percolate for a day or two over the weekend and see if this may be a viable way to put these things together. Thanks in advance to any willing to pitch in.

IMO, to aggregate the wins and losses easier, I'd suggest using Google Documents - allow people to add in stuff as they need to. Thats just me, though.

My Google docs experience is limited to viewing. If someone wants to set that up to facilitate this, that would be super. Otherwise I'll just check in periodically and add people's data as we go to the original thread (agreed: less efficient).

Mathematically, the total number of wins and losses in conference games should be equal.

The sample at this point has more wins than losses, so it's not a possible outcome.

Right, everything in there now is purely arbitrary as a starting point.

I'm setting up a form if you like. Do you want me to give a list of potential all-conference players, or simply let them name them? Using a form will make tabulation real easy.

Woops, hit edit instead of quote. Burned out by scoring. :P

Looks fine to me, although it looks like it's calling for DE, DE1, and DE2. Where is the output recorded?

(edit) -- all we care about is regular season wins, so we might want to drop 14 down to 12 for each option, lest there be confusion.

None of this needs to be particularly scientific, of course. How many games do we reasonably expect each team to win, who would our pre-season all-B1G team be?

Everything is recorded to a Google Documents spreadsheet. I can share that with everyone.

I'll drop the # of wins down to 12 and add 0 for all of them.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet output - I haven't edited anything. Once the final tallies are in, we can edit however we need to and tabulate median results for wins:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtIYnfEudSQYdG5xNjRsWTdIWkpoc2otcUp3V1dKSUE

(if you could, please post both the form and spreadsheet in the OP if its good enough to use).

Done, thanks. I'll still need to edit the original post as we get height/weight/class data for the selected folks, but your forms are a great way for people to toss votes/thoughts in without taking on the details of a given section.

Either way, I need to get this off after the weekend, so hopefully this will produce some data over the next 48 hours.
