Bowling Green at OHIO STATE

Buckeye's have covered an unbelievable 12 straight. Vegas hates us right now. After the 2002 championship when they got raped you'd think they would have learned. I guess not.

Buckeyes win 50-3. Troy Smith is still up for the Heisman and I think Tressel wants him to win it. 4 more TD's on Saturday.

How did Vegas get raped by the 2002 championship game?

Woops. Well, there are worse reasons to pull for the 'dog, I suppose. Power of positive thinking may help you get your money back - just wear orange on Friday!

OK, I'll be the first to go in semi-big on the Bucks to beat this mega-big spread. In for v$250,000. So, where are the rest of you big spenders? Have the Bucks let you down yet? I don't know that a mid-MAC team can stop our 3rd team offense or score on our 3rd team defense. Bucks to cover.

And that's bad for Vegas....how?

Well, here is a scenario, plausible one too I think.

The line on that game was 12 points in Miami's favor.
This was the first time ever that the Buckeyes had been to the BCS Championship game, and their first chance at an outright National Championship since the days of Woody Hayes.
The Buckeye faithful outnumbered their Miami counterparts by 8 or 9 to one in the stands, (and here is the plasuible part) they outnumber them in sheer dollars betting to back their team. (HEll, I figure a lot of honest onlookers who even thought Miami would win still bet on the Buckeyes to best the spread, if not the 'Canes).
Much as happened in last years Super Bowl when 75%+ of the money rode on the Steelers, the bookies take a bath on that game as the Buckeyes undo the line and Miami.
Vegas gets the vig, and any 'Cane money, but shells out major dollars on the game, more than they took in.

At least, that is the scenario I see.

It's certainly possible, but it would've been accompanied by the line nosediving. Not a gambler, but I don't remember hearing about the line shifting considerably for the game.
