Bowl Games and the Gifts...

They are allowed to recieve up to $350 dollars in gifts by the sponsers of the bowl game.

Alamo bowl players all get a Xbox360...although I'm assuming it's the core because the premium is more then $350

Edit: I guess I should read the article first :(. It seems it's up to $500 dollars this year, and that you already know that.

I like it. It should be a fun event for the players and it marks the end of the season. It's a reward for thier efforts and everyone thats in it recieves the same amount, not just the stars. As long as they are able to do it in a way without giving schools an unfair advantage i'm all for paying back the athlete some because the colleges are making a ton off them. This is one of the easier ways to do that without giving an unfair advantage.

I really don't see these gifts as in any way infringing on amateurism. The PSP might just keep the players out of some mischief. Snacks hardly constitute a major inducement! I think it's neat that one day they can look back on the game and remember getting the football and watch, provided that some schmuck doesn't break into their apartment!
