One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
My wife and I went to Northwest Indiana last week for a physical for my new job (i passed). They put us up in a hotel for 3 nights so we also used the time for apartment/house shopping. The whole time we figured we would just rent but on Friday around 1:00 pm while we were driving around different neighborhoods we found our perfect house. And 5 hours later we were signing the papers.

It is crazy how quickly it worked out. The current owner of the house is living in Iowa where he is working as a CEO and they wanted the place to sell quickly. So they listed it 20-25k less than it could be worth.

So it's nice to be moving into a place that has 2800 sq ft compaired to a 900 sq ft apartment.

Soooo... Anyone know anything worthwhile about Northwest Indiana? The City is Chesterton and it's about 3 miles away from the beach and an hour away from downtown Chicago.

Well, atleast its better than this dump...

Next time make sure you get your wife's rear in the photos! :wink2:

Seriously, looks like a great find. Hopefully we will have that kind of luck when we start looking for our new house in a couple of weeks.

Looks like a great split level but its actually a bi-level, right?

Judging by the style, I'll say built in the late 60's or early 70's. Back when craftsmanship and quality meant something. That house would stand up to a hurricane and spit back at it. If hurricanes were a problem in NW Indiana...

Looks like a great house and a great investment. Looks like an older, mature neighborhood that will be quiet.

Did you check comps? Meaning: Is the house priced similar to other houses in the area of the same size?

Welcome to home ownership. Now get out there and weed the flower beds before the neighbors get pissed...

Nice,we are doing the same thing right now! We are taking our third look at the house today & asking questions on it. They are relocating to Vegas,so I think they might take an offer.
Our problem is we need a bigger house & want some property with it. This place has 3 bedrooms and an office & sits on 3.6 secluded acres.......ahh... peace & quiet!
It is an older house 100% completely redone from wiring to new furnace to central air! An addition was put on all new woodwork, drywall etc. It is the one out of many we have seen that fits our needs! We have seen alot.

That is correct

We checked it in anouther neighborhood about 2 miles away. Same schools and everything and this seemed a lot better than the others i saw.

Isn't that what the wife is for? :) I think we got the owners (who are moving to a condo) to leave all of their lawn equipment, so that will help out.
