Boston Red Sox (9x World Series Champions)

When I was in Boston last summer, I was there the day Papi hit the game-winning HR in the first game of the double header against the Rangers and people were running down the street high-fiving and hugging each other like they'd just won the series.

A very eye-opening experience.

It's pretty much the same as a game-winning TD at an OSU game. Homos. :p

I haven't experienced it yet first-hand. However, I have a dvd entitled Still, We Believe: The Boston Red Sox Movie. It chronicles the 2003 season from the points of view of 8 different Red Sox fans. I can't believe how much passion these people have for the Sox. They are absolutely rabid!

Being a die-hard Ohio State fan, I thought I knew all about being fanatical. I had no clue.

There is more instability to your average Red Sox fan, in my opinion, which accentuates the highs and lows. It really is interesting to see two completely devoted fanbases and realize that there can be such differences in their outlooks and behavior.

He's moving on up.
Red Sox outfield prospect Jacoby Ellsbury was promoted to the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox from the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, and will start in center field for the PawSox tonight, according to the PawSox website. The PawSox host the Indianapolis Indians at 7:05 p.m. at McCoy Stadium

Coco has been turning it on lately, especially in the field.

I went to the game last night and almost forgot how harsh the Red Sox fans can be! After Lugo made those two errors, the crowd started chanting "Alex Cora!"

I heard one guy yell, "Lugo, you $9 million waste!" Ouch.

Lugo did have a double later, and even Pedroia had a good game, so that shut up the haters for a few innings anyway. :p

Got to see a great game, though. Everyone was chanting "Manny! Manny!" as we were filing out of Fenway.

Good article on Jon Lester and his attempted comeback from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Link

PAWTUCKET, R.I. ? Two thoughts race through Jon Lester with daily regularity. One is his greatest fear, the other his greatest hope. Both seem absolutely natural, given what he has endured the past year.

The ultimate fear is recurrence of his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a blood cancer. The vision of hope is pitching for the Boston Red Sox again.
